If you are a fan of oWowCow Creamery and have visited their Wrightstown location in Carousel Village, you are probably also familiar with a great eatery that parks nearby. “Parks?” Yep. The MOO Truck has been selling locally produced foods and terrific burgers parked at Carousel Village on weekends. But now they are taking the next step.
I spoke with owner Evan Asoudegan last week to get the news on the MOO’s latest venture, a sit-down restaurant in Ottsville. The menu will include all the favorites from the food truck, including the MOO burger, the OINK burger (MOO burger plus bacon), hand-cut fries, seasonal salads and more. “It will be classic American food but using all local products,” says Evan, “the customer will know exactly where the food is coming from.” In fact, the restaurant’s walls will feature photos of the local farmers producing the food for the eatery.
What will you find on the menu? Fresh burgers made from meat ground on the premises. The MOO dog – chili on a hot dog, veggie burgers, chicken burgers, veggie chili, homemade soups like chicken soup and sweet potato and leek soup, grilled cheese, shakes, root beer floats, local soda, french press coffee and even a PB&J sandwich – local jam, homemade peanut butter, buttered and grilled. Oh my.
The restaurant seats 46 and will be take out or eat in (no wait service). You’ll find them at 4010 Durham Road/Route 412, right near the intersection of Routes 611 and 412, in Ottsville. They will be open this coming Wednesday January 23 with hours seven days a week from 11 am to 8 pm. Plans for breakfast are in the works. You’ll also find them on Facebook and Twitter and at 215-317-3317. And don’t worry about the MOO truck. They’ll be using it for catering and local events.
