Bucks Food Calendar: April 23, 2018

What a whirlwind of a weekend! If you were lucky enough to join us at the 5th Annual Bucks Bacon and Beer event, you’re probably feeling it – but wasn’t it worth it?! (see a recap of the event on our Instagram or Facebook). Thanks to everyone – including our great local food purveyors – for coming!

But now, back to reality (aka Monday). Fuel your week with sweet & sticky buns, enjoy a tasty and local food book signing and try dining outdoors for a change (the nice weather is finally here!). Enjoy the week, locals!

Cinnamon Bun Bake Sale

Cinnamon Bun Bake Sale

Sweet, sticky, a bit nutty. These are the cinnamon buns you want to eat hot out of the oven with a steaming cup of morning coffee.

This could be your breakfast if you stop by the Central Bucks Senior Center to buy some of their fresh-baked cinnamon buns, handmade daily by the members of the center. You can pick them up all this week beginning on Tuesday, March 27.

Enjoy the buns plain, with raisins or nuts, or both. Learn more about the sale here or call the center for more information. Save some for the Easter weekend, or eat them all as soon as you get home!

Book Signing: The Farm Cooking School

The Farm Cooking School
When you visit The Farm Cooking School you’ll not only leave with a full stomach but have learned something new.

Join your friends at the Doylestown Bookshop for a talk and food demonstration with The Farm Cooking School’s Ian Knauer & Shelley Wiseman on Tuesday, April 24 at 6:30 pm.  In their “A Case for Seasonal Eating,” they discuss the health and environmental benefits and impact of eating locally and in season, giving guests approachable and realistic methods to incorporating these practices into their own lives.  In addition to the talk, they will demo several recipes utilizing locally sourced ingredients which guests will be invited to taste. Come learn something (and taste something) new!

Ever wonder about the benefits and flavors of various olive oils? If you’re all about olive oil, join registered dietitian Jill Kwasny for a free program featuring Ed Zulin(of Lucini Olive Oil). Ed will answer your questions about olive oil, including the difference between virgin and extra virgin oils. He will also explain how you can recognize the highest quality oils and avoid those oils that are not what they appear to be. While you’re there, you will also have the opportunity to taste some of the delicious and versatile oils available at McCaffrey’s Markets. This event runs on Thursday at 10 am.
