We made it! It’s March! I know, I know. We’ll probably get a March snow storm (and I know some of you out there are secretly wishing for it) but the end is in sight. And although I’ve been enjoying the winter farmers markets, I am looking forward to the full growing season.

We’ve cherry-picked the best foodie events this weekend for you, both in Bucks County and just outside.

1Down Home Southern at the Lumberville General Store

The Lumberville General Store’s popular weekend Supper Club presents Down Home Southern Cookin’ with a “twist.” Sure, they will serve up spicy fried chicken, but with buttermilk coleslaw, sautéed kale, red beans and rice. 2Yardley Indoor Farmers Market

Organically grown vegetables, locally roasted coffee, fresh baked breads, handcrafted caramels and ganaches, exotic mushrooms, gourmet dips and prepared foods, artisanal cheese, and even “Bartender in a Jar” jellies and syrups. 3Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast

In honor of National Read Across America Day, Sweet Occasion bakeshop in Peddler’s Village wants to celebrate children’s author Dr. Suess, and provide the resources and activities to help keep reading on the calendar 365 days a year.

Chive Cafe is providing the perfect breakfast menu for all ages to enjoy featuring their signature green scrambled eggs. Drinks will be provided as well. After filling your tummies, sit down and relax with Lahaska Bookshop in a book reading. Some of your favorite classics will be read.

In addition to a delicious breakfast, they ask that participants donate a book. There will be two seatings, 9am – 10 am , 10 am to 11 am. Call the shop at 267.362.5136  to reserve your spots.

4Locally Grown Showcase

The Souderton-Telford Business and Professional Women’s Group is teaming up with Locavore at Your Door to bring back an event that spotlights local fresh eats, local shopping, and local nonprofits that support our community. It is a free, family fun event with kid activities, raffles, a pie eating contest and more. For more information, go to their website here.

5Hunterdon Land Trust Winter Farmers Market

Sun, March 4, 11 am – 1 pm
Dvoor Farm
111 Mine St, Flemington, NJ

Another great winter farmers market takes place this Sunday in Flemington. Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse will be bring their incredible wood-fired breads, and their amazing cheese, including the last of the season’s gooey Baudolino, Drumm, Cave-aged Cheddar, Frolic, Jean-Louis, and Olive Moon Cheese. Fulper Family Farmstead will be there as well with their fresh mozzarella, ricotta and yogurt. Comeback Farm and Sandbrook Meadow Farm will have organic vegetables.

Fired Up Flatbread Co. will have several different varieties of breakfast and lunch pizzas, breakfast pastries and beverages. Griggstown Farm will bring their chicken and turkey pot pies, fruit pies, chicken sausages, and eggs.

And there’s more – live cultured food and drinks from Locktown Farm. Pastured pork and turkey from Purely Farm, Will’s Amazing Vegan Burgers and warm gloves, socks, mittens, hats and, yes, USDA yak and aged beef, yak sausage and honey, all from WoodsEdge Farm.

We are thrilled to once again bring the Bucks County Taste Dinner Club to the Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm. Chef Josh Homacki will create a wonderful, seasonally inspired meal for us in this intimate dining space. If you haven’t been to the Inn’s restaurant yet, mark your calendar.
