Backyard Chicken
Shot of a happy and healthy hen

Here’s hoping you have power wherever you are! What a weekend. We are still without electricity (and running water) on our little street in Wrightstown (sigh). Yet another reason to eat out in Bucks County. So if you too are looking for something to eat in Bucks County this week, here are some local hotspots. Check out some fun and foodie-approved events like a tarot card reading with wine and how to raise backyard chickens. [Just remember to call ahead to make sure they have power!]

ONLY SIX SEATS LEFT! Join the Bucks County Taste Dinner Club at the Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm on Sunday, March 25. This is going to be an exceptional – and fun – evening. Click here for more information, or scroll down for all the details.

Raising Backyard Chickens

Backyard Chicken

Ever thought about raising your own chickens? Fresh eggs in your backayrd! This week, the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance is presenting a panel discussion focusing the ins and outs of raising chickens in your own backyard this Wednesday, March 7, 7 pm at the Plumsteadville Grange. The panelists will share information from their personal experience of raising chickens, and you can learn from others’ mistakes and triumphs, from laying the foundation for your entry into chicken raising to maintaining the vitality and productivity of your established flock.

Did you know…it is legal to raise chickens in your backyard in Doylestown? Isn’t Bucks County an amazing place??

Plumsteadville Grange is at 5901 Old Easton Road, Plumsteadville, PA 18949. There is no charge for this event, but donations to support the initiates and keep the programs running are appreciated. For more information call 215.621.8967, info@BucksFoodshed.org.

Farmers for America Screening & F2T Dinner

Want to learn more about farmers and food? Then come enjoy a thought-provoking event happening at the Hopewell Theater this March 8 starting at 6 pm. Why? A friend of the farm, Graham Meriweather, will be screening his film, Farmers for America, and will have a panel discussion afterwards.

There will also be a farm-to-table dinner provided by the Hopewell Theater’s sister outpost, the Red Barn Milk Company. This is a BYOB venue, so bring something you’d like to enjoy! Buy your tickets here.

Write to us in the comment section below or give us a shout on Facebook if you’d like to see more farm-to-table dinner options and local filmmaker premieres in your area! Have another suggestion on how to improve BCT? Send us a note at info@buckscountytaste.com.
