As I write this I look out to see dappled sunlight through the trees. It’s sunny, 70° and October…oh, and Doc Halladay pitched a no-hitter last night. Go Phils! Could October get any better? (well, yes…but I don’t want to jinx it)
Besides watching great baseball, there is lots of fun Bucks County food stuff this weekend. Starting with…
The Mercer Museum’s 33rd Annual Savory Sampler. Another great fundraiser that brings together good, local food and a Bucks County landmark. I call it “eating for a good cause.” Begun in 1978, all the proceeds from Savory Sampler benefit educational programs at the Mercer Museum and Fonthill in Doylestown. That’s the feel good part. The taste good part are all these participating restaurants, bakers, caterers, wineries, breweries and ice cream makers, creating their best for all: Altomonte’s Italian Market, Café Underground, Chaddsford Winery, Chambers 19 Bistro & Bar, Goodnoe Farm Dairy Bar, The Grain Exchange, Houlihan’s, Joseph Ambler Inn, The Lucky Cupcake Company, Marsha Brown’s Creole Kitchen, McCoole’s at the Historic Red Lion Inn, Memorable Affairs Catering, Owow Cow Local Artisanal Ice Cream, Park Avenue Pastries, PineCrest Country Club, Sand Castle Winery, The Talking Teacup, TASTE, The Waterwheel Restaurant, and Wegman’s Food Market-Warrington.
The festivities kick off at 7:30 p.m., with a cocktail reception, then the party then winds around the museum, as guests dine throughout the castle, while enjoying the amazing views of the Mercer’s vast collection of Early Americana. For more information and tickets, please see the museum’s website at www.mercermuseum.org.
