More signs of spring! Here are some great events this week, as well as some local food news.
The 2nd Annual New Hope-Lambertville Restaurant Week begins this Sunday and goes through Friday. Lots of great prix fixe deals at some wonderful restaurants. See their website for more details.
Pancake breakfasts abound this weekend – one on Saturday morning and four (!) on Sunday morning. See locations and times/dates on our calendar.
As I mentioned last week, many of your favorite ice cream places are open for the season. Uncle Dave’s Homemade Ice Cream at Shady Brook Farm will be offering 94¢ ice cream cones this Saturday and Sunday, March 19 and 20. Yum.
If you do find yourself strolling through New Hope, stop in and welcome Larry Linderman at the “new” Main Street Eatery at 137 South Main St. Some of you may recognize Larry from the bar at Bowman’s Tavern. He and his main squeeze, Dawn, have bought this little spot, serving Nathan’s hot dogs, Johnsonville brats, Arctic Ice Cream, and Nina’s Waffles. Here’s to great weather and hopefully a great inaugural season for Larry and Dawn in their new venture.
More food news. Did you know…that Chef Dave Mergen of Just Foods in Buckingham is now preparing freshly made cuisine for take out at both Shady Brook Farm and The Market at DelVal? Stop by the Doylestown market this weekend for their 2nd Annual Spring Fling. Activities all day Saturday and Sunday will include music, gourmet food and wine sampling, as well as crafts for the kids.
Don’t plan dinner for this Thursday evening. Instead, go to Doylestown for the Gourmet Getaway: Cuisine for a Cause. The Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Committee puts on this delicious event…and I think it gets bigger every year! It’s an evening filled with food, wine, beer and dessert tastings from some of Bucks best restaurants, caterers, vineyards, bakers, and breweries. All proceeds benefit the Women in Business Scholarship Program which provides educational funds to deserving Bucks County women to gain knowledge, improve job skills and give back to the community. Since 1983, the Chamber has awarded over $241,069 in scholarships through this program. The event takes place on Thursday, March 24 at Keenan Motors (2nd floor Showroom) at 4311 Swamp Road, Doylestown from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. Tickets for the event are $45. Learn more at their website.
Save-the-date. Saturday, April 16th yours truly will be the featured guest and guide at a Spring Farm-to-Table Dinner at Crossing Vineyards in Washington Crossing. Emily’s Café & Catering is cooking up a delicious menu, filled with locally sourced food (yes, even in April!). The five-course gourmet meal will of course be paired with Crossing Vineyards’ internationally-acclaimed wines. For more details and to sign-up, go to their website.
