6 things you gotta do in Bucks this weekend (June 17-19)

This weekend it’s time to celebrate summer in Bucks County. There are plenty of places to take your dad or the fatherly figure in your life (check out our post, Where to eat for Father’s Day in Bucks County.) If you are looking for things to do with dad throughout the whole weekend, here are some options:


1. Salsa Night

Join the people at Mojito Cuba Caribe in New Hope for a great salsa night. Their theme is Nights in White Satin, so be sure to dress in white for this salsa night. Dinner specials include Arroz con Marisco and Ropa Vieja. Dancing begins at 8:30 pm with music by DJ Blademaster. So enjoy some salsa-esque drinks and dance all night. Reservations for dinner recommended so call 267.740.2900. Drink specials all night and no cover.

2. Delaware Canal Festival in Historic Bristol Borough

Friday, June 17, 6 – 9 pm, Lagoon Park, Intersection of Jefferson and Prospect Street, Bristol, PA

Everyone around the Canal is invited to participate in this event. If you have a canoe, kayak or other vessel, transform it into a floating wonder and show it off in the parade. Some of the best boats are put together by community members. Winners will be given an ice cream certificate from Let’s Go to the Hop, an old school ice cream shop. You can come to the duck booth of the festival and decorate a little duck for another contest. There will be plenty of great food trucks along Prospect Street in Bristol.

3. Summer Solstice Festival

Saturday, June 18, 11 am – 6 pm, Snipes Farm & Education Center, 890 W. Bridge Street , Morrisville , PA

This event is fun for all ages, and it’s filled with food and other ways to celebrate the summer solstice. This festival is held at Snipes Farm & Education Center. There will be live music, Dancing of the honey bees, a Briar Bush Nature Center Animal Program, storytelling, and a chance to meet the farm’s bunnies. There is also a chicks, chicken and eggs program, food trucks and vendors. Cost is $5 per person ages three and up. Call 215.205.1139 ext. 102 for more information.

4. Brews and Bites

Saturday, June 18, 4 – 8 pm, Pennsbury Manor, 400 Pennsbury Road, Morrisville, PA

You’ve seen it on our “on the radar” section, and it’s finally here. The Pennsbury Manor‘s “Brews and Bites” is this Saturday from 4 – 8 pm. Tap into the history of beer, enjoy live music from Barefoot Bobby and the Breakers. And, you guessed it, there will be food trucks too. You can stroll through the gardens, enjoy seeing the hops growing, and watch a 17th century beer brewing demonstration. Must be 21 to attend. General admission is on sale and so are designated driver tickets.

5. Barn Party Fundraiser

Saturday, June 18, Rising Sun Inn, 898 Allentown Road, Telford, PA

Come to the Rising Sun Inn for a barn fundraiser that benefits the American Cancer Society. The night is hosted by Mike Guldin & Rollin’ & Tumblin’. Doors open at 6 pm and there will be music from 7 – 11 pm. Tickets are $25 each and available at the door. They also include dinner, and there will be additional fundraising for 50/50 raffles.

6. Fire Company Breakfasts

Sunday, June 19

8 am – 12:30 pm, Riegelsville Fire Company, 333 Delaware Road, Riegelsville, PA

7:30 am – 12:30 pm, Perkasie Fire Company, Fifth & Arch Sts, Perkasie, PA

Time for more breakfast, and this one is on Father’s Day too. Order by the menu of traditional breakfast items like eggs, ham, sausage, scrapple, omelets, creamed dried beef, pancakes, and more. All the food is cooked by the firefighters just for you. Come help support your local fire department and give your dad or family a nice breakfast.
