Bucks Food Calendar: September 28, 2015

This week, experience different foods and drinks from around the world without actually leaving the comforts of Bucks County. Interested in Italian that’s a little more unique? Try some “artsy” pizza. Or, perhaps you aren’t even hungry and you just want to taste beer like you’re in Germany? There’s all that and more this week.

Tony La Salle

His time is normally spent painting, but on Tuesday, September 29, artist Tony La Salle will set aside his brushes and serve as guest pizzaiolo at Liberty Hall Pizza, in Lambertville. La Salle will make two specialty pizzas at the Neapolitan pizzeria: a savory onion topped with citrus dandelion salad, and a herb chicken Parmigiano calzone-style with dipping sauce.

It’s also La Salle’s birthday and a simultaneous celebration will take place at his Lambertville studio located next to Liberty Hall. His studio will also be open to diners who can stop by to celebrate, with cake and champagne for dessert. If you’re familiar with Delaware Valley University, you might recognize him because he is an associate professor at the institution.

The entire Liberty Hall Pizza menu will also be available along with the guest chefs’ pizzas for all Guest Pizzaiolo events, which take place every other Tuesday. Upcoming guest pizzaioli include: Chef Mark Miller of Hamilton’s Grill Room and Philadelphia-based Chef Nick Farina of Verdad Restaurant & Tequila Bar, Union Taco and EAT.

There will be so many activities centered around Oktoberfest coming up, so why not kick off the start of the month celebrating the traditional German autumn festival right here in Bucks County? This Thursday, October 1, the Karlton Cafe in Quakertown, PA will have live music and beer tasting from 5 – 9 pm, complete with Spartan keg tapping and free beer tasting of Oktober beers, provided by Beer City.
