Bucks Food Calendar: February 18, 2015

Breakfast for Dinner. Spinnerstown Hotel has a beer dinner scheduled, but with a twist: they’re serving breakfast! Join them for their Allagash Beer Dinner this Thursday, February 19, from 7 to 9 pm. Start off with Session Brett Ale before digging in to the first course—cream chipped beef and grilled cheese with a saison poached “egg in a basket,” followed by Confluence Ale paired with cream cheese grapefruit ice cream and bacon puff pastry, Curieux paired with overnight French toast, breakfast roulade, and truffle balsamic, and finished off by Bourbon Barrel Black with cinnamon graham cracker smores. Oh my.

Dinner for Dinner. Yardley Inn’s Founder’s Beer Dinner features actual dinner (five courses of it) on Sunday, February 22, from 6 to 8 pm. Each of the five courses will be paired with a chilled bottle of Founders beer. The handpicked selection of brews will include the All Day stout-beef-floatIPA, Dirty Bastard Ale and the Breakfast Stout. Dishes to accompany the beers will be an eclectic group of home-style fare, such as hop chimichurri, tater tots bravas and grilled salmon bellies, followed by a craft beer float made with caramel ice cream for dessert.

On Wednesday, February 25 from 6 to 8 pm, Non Solo Pasta Restaurant will host a Five Course Wine Dinner for $65 per person, including octopus salad, papperdelle2pappardelle with lamb bolognese, grilled veal chop in marsala with mushrooms, and biscotti for dessert.

Cooking classes.  If you’re utterly perplexed by kale and friends (read: vegetables) and what to do with them, Snipes Farm is here to help with their Whole Foods Cooking Class on Saturday, February 21 from 10 am to noon. They’ll cover creative ways to find, preserve and cook with fresh food and to make a dollar stretch as far as it can. Email colleens@snipesfarm.org to register.

If you want to take this week as an opportunity to really learn something resourceful in the kitchen, you should also check out Pennypack Farm and Education Center’s Sourdough Breadmaking Class at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Horsham on Tuesday, February 24 from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. Learn how to make sourdough bread and take home your own starter. Traci Opdahl of Amazing Healthful Foods will teach why sourdough is better for you and how to make it at home.
