The groundhog might have said that winter is on its way out, but we are feeling anything but spring outside. With the bitter cold, it’s easy to feel the February doldrums. But there are lots of things happening this week to keep you upbeat, warm and happy.
There will be a free dinner at the Presbyterian Church of Deep Run in Perkasie today, February 15. The church always opens its doors the third Monday of each month so the community can have home cooked meals and tasty desserts. The meal is served in Hoopes Hall from 5:30-6:30 pm. The menu this Monday is chicken casserole with rice, and homemade desserts. Note: During the winter, if Pennridge School District closes due to inclement weather, the dinner will not be held on that day. Call ahead to check: 215.249.3689.
Also tonight, lobster two ways tonight at Milford Oyster House (yes, it’s in New Jersey but it looks too good to pass up). Try the lobster salad roll in the tavern and or whole lobster served out of the shell atop a tangle of angel hair pasta with lemon butter sauce and garnished with fresh asparagus. Seems like it will warm up all the cold souls on both sides of the river. The Milford Oyster House opens at 5 pm today.
This should cheer you up. For the entire month of February, The Market at DelVal is offering 20% off just about everything in its entire store for customers shopping after 3 pm.
The Market at DelVal, a locovore’s dream, offers locally grown foods; fresh produce; locally made jams, dressings and salsas; locally raised honey, and many other unique novelties not found anywhere else in the area. Their bakery also makes homemade goodies every day, which are my personal favorite! The discount does not apply to milk products, eggs, catered food, Pepperidge Farm products or items already discounted.
Mark your calendar now! There are a few interesting and tasty events coming up next week, and what do you know, they are all on the same day: Wednesday, February 24. Better put all three in a hat to pick one because it’s going to be a hard decision:
