Bucks Food Calendar: August 8, 2016

The Market at DelVal

Here we are in the second week of August already, and the summer heat has given us a bountiful harvest of corn, berries, peaches, cantaloupes, and other late-summer produce. As always, take time to check out your farmers markets to pick up your favorite fruits, veggies and plants before it’s too late. This week, get your hands on some free corn (see how below) and taste summer dinner menu specials from all over Bucks County.

Whiskey, Washington House
Whiskey around the world.
If you have enjoyed the Washington House’s beer or wine dinners, then try this new addition: a whiskey tasting. This Tuesday, August 9, sample whiskey from around the globe, paired with a four-course dinner for $59 per person. The chosen whiskeys include Maker’s Mark 46, 2 Gingers from Ireland, Canadian Club Rye and Auchentoshan Scotch. Please call 215.257.3000 to make reservations.

Robinson's Eating on the Wild Side, NPR

Eating on the Wild Side. Eating on the Wild Side: the Missing Link to Optimum Health by Jo Robinson is the next stage in the food revolution. This book discusses a radical way to select fruits and vegetables and reclaim the nutrients and flavors that we have lost. Interested? Come to the Doylestown Bookshop to discuss this interesting and informative book from 6:15 – 8 pm on Tuesday, August 9. There is a 20% discount provided to Food For Thought book club selection at the Doylestown Bookshop. If you didn’t read the book, no worries, come for the discussion and to meet new people. [Note: the Food for Thought Book Club meets the second Tuesday of every month. Click here for more information.]
