Bucks Food Calendar: January 30, 2016

Wow! It’s almost February. Hard to tell with the lack of real winter weather we’ve had. Last week, Bucks County Taste visited a farm in Tinicum that produces maple syrup, rare here in Bucks County. But if we don’t get some cold nights, there won’t be any sap running. Yet another effect of global warming.

But don’t let the winter blues get to you. Check out some restaurant specials happening this week in Bucks County and nearby. Enjoy a warm supper or pick up a croissant sandwich to-go.

Don’t forget too that Valentine’s Day is just two weeks away. Check out our updated Valentine’s Day post to find a fun restaurant for you and your sweetie!

Call up the Spirits. The Logan Inn in New Hope is welcoming back the author and spiritual medium, Edward Tabbitas, for another week of dinners and spirit readings, beginning tonight Monday, January 30 and continuing until February 5.

Each evening includes a three-course dinner followed by a group reading. Monday through Thursday, and Sunday, the event costs $80 per person. On Friday and Saturday, it is $100 per person. The price includes a welcome cocktail, hors d’oeuvres, three-course dinner, and a group reading with Tabbitas. Price does not include alcohol, tax and gratuity. Stay packages are available too.

Schnitzel, Driftless Appetite

Schnitzel time. Join the United German Hungarians in Bensalem for Schnitzel Night at the club, every first Wednesday of the month. You also get two side dishes (which change every month) plus a salad, bread and butter, coffee or tea. The meal includes schnitzel (pork), red cabbage, and spaetzle (dumplings). The dinner begins at 5:30 pm.

The Raven

Time for supper. The Raven in New Hope has restarted their Wednesday Supper Club dinner. The 3-course dinner is $19.95 and starts at 6 pm. Enjoy menu items like a poached pear salad, roasted pork loin, or grilled salmon with caper remoulade sauce. Call 215.862.2081 for reservations.

Garden Shorts. The Bucks County Foodshed Alliance is hosting “Garden Shorts” on Wednesday, February 1 at the George School’s Anderson Library in Newtown. The event will inspire you to start planning your garden. The series of short videos which focus on gardening come from Nourish Life, YouTube, and other places. After the films, there will be a discussion and sharing of ideas. Call 215.621.8967 for more information.

The event includes instruction, wine sampling, and learning materials. Cost is $35 per person. Reservations are required. Call 215.493.6500 ext. 19.
