Apples are here!

Apples are beginning to ripen in local orchards in a big way.

Solebury Orchards is picking Honey Crisp and Gala apples now. You can pick your own there too. Check their website for updates. They may have some peaches still left this weekend. On Saturday and Sunday during the apple harvest season they will take you out to the orchards in their tractor and wagon ride in Solebury.

Shady Brook Farm (Yardley) and the Market at Del Val (Doylestown) are both having Apple Fun Days this weekend, September 8 and 9, and Shady Brook’s will continue next weekend. Lots of apple-inspired foods and family fun. You can also do pick-your-own and enjoy hayrides. Hello fall!

Manoff Market Gardens in Solebury has Honey Crisp, Gala, Ginger Gold, Sanza, and Fuji apples, as well as the last of peaches and nectarines.

Snipes Farm and Education Center in Morrisville also offers pick-your-own and wagon rides out to the orchards. There’s nothing like a tree-ripened apple, they say.

Next weekend, September 15 and 16, stop by Terhune Orchards in Princeton, NJ for their annual Apple Day Celebration. There will be farm wagon rides and horse-drawn wagon rides, pony rides, pumpkin painting, and scarecrow making for the kids, a Corn Stalk Maze, a pig roast, lots of apple-inspired foods and music too. You can also pick-your-own Empire, Stayman Winesap, and Red Delicious apples by the pound.
