The weekend weather looks delightfully autumnal with crisp temperatures and sun. And the leaves are cooperating by turning all kinds of colors, just in the last few days. Amazing. So go do some leaf peeping in Bucks County.

To market, to market. The Ottsville Farmers’ Market will celebrate it’s final market of the season this Friday from 4 – 8 pm. Stop in to say goodbye to all of their wonderful vendors and thank Kristen Perry for all her energy and creativity in running the market this year.
Don’t forget about farmers’ markets just because there’s a chill in the air. They are bursting with fall produce, meats, cheeses, eggs, baked goods, preserves, honey, canned goods and more. Stop by for some festive fall decorations too, like pumpkins, gourds and such.
Here’s what you can expect to find at area farmers’ markets and farm stands: apples (many varieties), pears, many shapes and sizes of winter squash and gourds, Brussels sprouts, turnips, eggplant, cabbage, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, garlic, leeks, radishes, celery, okra, tomatillos, collards, kale, spinach, Swiss chard, salad mix, sweet onions, yellow, white and purple onions, varieties of potatoes, yellow and green beans, lima beans, sweet potatoes, varieties of sweet and spicy hot peppers, gold and red beets, ground cherries, mushrooms, chestnuts, flowers and herbs.
The Carversville Christian Church will hold their famous Oyster Pork Supper this Saturday, October 15 from 3 – 8 pm. This famous and long-standing tradition in Carversville (near Solebury) had to skip last year due to a destructive fire in the church. Church members are thrilled to be back this year and have been busy preparing for the 140th anniversary of the event. The meal includes pork from Haring Brothers, “thrice breaded bigger-than-life” west coast oysters from Hopkins Seafood, sweet creamed corn from None Such Farms, mashed potatoes, stewed tomatoes, applesauce cooked up from Solebury Orchards’ apples, pepper hash and desserts baked by members and friends of the church. Be prepared for a crowd. They prepare for over 800 suppers! Adult dinners are $19, kids are half price; take out is $20. For more information and directions, see their website.
