Sweets have always been my weakness, but lately I’ve been trying to cut back and introduce natural sweeteners into my meals. My new favorite dessert is greek yogurt, fresh (farmers market) peaches, and some sliced almonds. Serve it in a large wine glass and make it fancy!

If you’re looking to satisfy your sweet tooth this weekend, we have a few suggestions. Pick up sweet produce like raspberries and peaches, order the sweet stuff off the brunch menu, or treat yourself to some cold frozen dairy desserts.

It’s almost the end of July, and we don’t want you to miss out on the great seasonal produce that’s available at area farmers markets.

The Doylestown Farmers Market will have plenty of summer produce available this weekend. The market also welcomes special guest Anna P’s Catering, from New Hope, PA. Check out her free samples of her menu this Saturday.

The Chalfont Borough Farmers Market will most likely have corn, peaches, raspberries, and squash available, along with other vendors selling items like grass-fed beef, eggs, honey, flowers, and more. As long as it’s not raining, this farmers market is always open.

In addition to fruits and veggies, the Quakertown Farmers Market will also have a fun summer free concert on an outdoor stage each weekend. This weekend’s band is Kara Hartell, who will play from 12 – 2 pm. Jam out to some awesome music while you shop at the market!

Don’t forget there are plenty of farmers markets scattered around Bucks County (and there are some in Montgomery and Hunterdon County, too!). Check out our full guide on farmers markets here

5. Wine on the Waterfront

Saturday, July 29, 1 – 5 pm, Washington Crossing Historic Park, River Rd., Washington Crossing, PA

Washington Crossing Historic Park winery event

Come sip some wine and enjoy the beautiful view of the Delaware River this weekend, because it’s time for the first-ever Wine on the Waterfront event. The wine event is presented by Washington Crossing Historic Park and the Bucks County Wine Trail with support from Visit Bucks County. Tickets will be sold at the gate for $30 per person. Online ticket sales will close this Friday, July 28, at 11:30 pm.

The event will feature live jazz music and one-ounce tastes of 40+ varieties of wine from seven local wineries: Buckingham Valley Vineyards, Crossing Vineyards, Peace Valley Winery, Rose Bank Winery, Sand Castle, Unami Ridge, and Wycombe Vineyards.

Food and wine (bottles and cases) will be available for purchase. Attendees are welcome to relax along the riverbank with a purchase — just bring your own blankets or chairs so you can relax to the max! A portion of the event proceeds will help the Friends of Washington Crossing Park continue to provide educational and historical programming at the park.
