This weekend, we’ve got some typical March weather. Although it feels like spring now, the daffodils are in for a shock — it looks like we may get some snow Sunday night (yuck). But don’t let it get you down. Forge ahead.

It’s almost time for Easter which means plenty of time with the Easter Bunny, sweet treats, and other things to contribute to your spring fever. And don’t forget, this weekend two restaurant weeks will start. See which restaurants are participating and the specials they are offering in our restaurant week post here.

Some people call them “community meals;” I call them a chance to eat some good food and meet new people. This weekend we’ve got a few options. The Riegelsville Fire Company, which will do their monthly breakfast this Sunday, also has a weekly Fish Fry on the Fridays leading up to Easter. All proceeds benefit the firefighting program of Community Fire Company #1, Station 42. Call 610.749.2737 for any questions.

The Perkasie Fire Co. serves up their breakfast this Sunday too. Come for eggs, pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, scrapple, home fries, and more. Cost: Adults ($7), Children (Ages 4-12)($3.50) and kids under three eat for free. Once again, all proceeds benefit the firehouse. For more information email perkasiefireco.breakfast@gmail.com.

5. Caffé Galleria Gives Back

Saturday and Sunday, Mar. 19 – 20, Caffé Galleria, 23 North Union Street, Lambertville, NJ

Caffe Galleria, Omelette

This weekend on the other side of the river, celebrate the spirit of a true community member. Caffé Galleria in Lambertville is the legacy of founder Dawn Raia, who passed away from cancer in March 2014. This weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, March 19 – 20, two events are happening to celebrate Dawn’s life.

On Saturday, the Lambertville Animal Welfare and Animal Alliance will have dogs and cats available to adopt at the cafe.

On Sunday, there will be live music from 11 am – 3:30 pm. John Beacher and Gregg Cagno will perform. Wait, what about the food? You really need to try out the brunch menu, which uses fresh and health conscious recipes. Try the lentil burger, or a breakfast flat bread. Pick your own egg scramble with farm fresh eggs, or order a homemade omelet.

6. Learn how to make Hamentashen

Sunday, Mar. 20, McCaffrey’s Supermarket, 635 Heacock Rd, Yardley, PA 19067

Learn how to make hamentashen_crop

Easter is not the only holiday coming up. The Jewish holiday, Purim, is March 24. To celebrate it properly one must eat a special, delicious cookie called a hamentash (literally the “hat of Hamen” who is the villain in the Purim story). Want to learn how to make hamentashen? The Lubavitch of Bucks County is offering a workshop on this Sunday at McCaffrey’s Supermarket in Yardley in the upstairs dining room. Fun for kids and adults.

Yum! Time to eat!You can also learn how to make hamentashen step-by-step in our post, Time for Hamentashen!

Have a great weekend!
