Bucks Food Calendar: November 8, 2013

It’s coming soon. Yep, Thanksgiving, and all those other holidays, are quickly approaching. Look this week for where to get fresh turkeys, going out for Thanksgiving, veggie recipes for the holidays, wine events and more. Find something fun to do!

To market, to market. It’s time to start stocking up for the winter at your local farmers’ market. Stock up on winter produce, meat and poultry, cheese, honey, maple syrup, eggs, pickles, sauces, olive oil, jams and jellies, other assorted condiments, baked goods, coffee beans, alpaca products, dog biscuits, all natural soaps, lotions and more.

What you can expect to find at area farmers’ markets. Look for varieties of apples, arugula, Asian greens, baby greens, basil, beans, beets, bok choi, braising greens, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, chestnuts, cilantro, cucumbers, celeriac, celery, collards, dill, eggplant, escarole, figs, fennel, garlic, decorative gourds, ground cherries, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, lettuce, lima beans, mushrooms, okra, onions, parsley, parsnips, pears, peas, pea shoots, peppers, popping corn, potatoes, radicchio, radishes, rutabaga, salad mix, salsify, scallions, scorzenera, shallots, spinach, many varieties of squash, sweet potatoes, Swiss chard, tomatillos, paste & green tomatoes, turnips, zucchini and cut flowers.
