Chili cook-off

It looks like this year’s Winter Fest will have some real snow to go with it. But that won’t stop all the eating and drinking fun. It’s all indoors!

Winter Fest. The Lambertville-New Hope Winter Festival continues the festivities this week (Wednesday, January 21 – Wednesday, January 28). The food and drink events begin at 7 pm on Thursday, January 22 at the Inn at the Lambertville Station with the Taste of Winter Festival, which highlights the culinary achievements of local food purveyors, breweries, and wineries. Unionville Vineyards Cam-JamExpect food from Lambertville Station, El Tule, Bowman’s Tavern, Marsha Brown, Martine’s River House Restaurant, Fulper Family Farmstead, Taste of the World, Inn of the Hawke, Hamilton’s Grill RoomOwowcow Creamery, and Caffe Galleria, and wash it down with beer from Vault Brewing Company or wine from Buckingham Valley Vineyards and Unionville Vineyards. Reserve your spot now by following this link!

The breakfast is a steal, at $6.50 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $3.50 for children for an all-you-can-eat spread of pancakes, eggs, french toast, sausages, and drinks. The deal’s on between 8 am and 11:30 am and you can buy tickets ahead of time here, or buy them at the door. Or go to the Haycock Fire Co. for their monthly Firehouse Breakfast this Sunday morning from 8 am to noon.

Chili Cook-Off New Hope-Lambertville Winter Fest 2015Beans or no beans? Everybody’s got an opinion about chili, and everybody claims to make the best. Winter Fest’s Annual Chili Cook-Off is on at the Cornerstone Event Center (formerly the Eagle Fire House) from 1 to 4 pm on Sunday, January 25, but this isn’t your average neighborhood chili cook-off: the area’s restaurants are the competitors, and there’s a Judging Panel (as well as a people’s choice vote, so you’ll still get a chance to weigh in). Participating restaurants are Bitter Bob’s, Chef Elly’s West End Ice Cream, Fran’s Pub, Lambertville Station, Mojito, Triumph Brewing Company, Bowman’s Tavern, Chive Cafe, Havana Restaurant, Landing Restaurant, and Moo. You can purchase tickets here.

They’ll learn basic techniques and how to safely use kitchen tools. This class is appropriate for children ages 10 to 12.
