Bucks Food Calendar: April 22, 2011

Things are a little quiet this weekend due to the Easter holiday. But that’s okay. Hopefully you’ll be eating some good food with family and friends.

Farmers’ Markets. If you need a couple of last minute items – including breads, pastries, cheese, sweets, eggs, spring greens and maybe even local asparagus – check out the Stockton Farmers’ Market, open Friday and Saturday this weekend (not Sunday) or the Doylestown Farmers’ Market. The D’town Market opened for the season last Saturday in all that horrible rain and wind. The Ottsville Farmers’ Market opens for the season next Saturday! To see a list of all Bucks County farmers’ markets and their dates for the 2011 season, see the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance website.

Dining Out for Life, the annual event to raise money for AIDS, is this Thursday evening, April 28. One-third of your bill will benefit local services in the fight against AIDS. Participating restaurants in Bucks and nearby are: Bowman’s Tavern (New Hope); The Raven (New Hope); Poco’s Restaurant (Doylestown); Rick’s Restaurant (Lambertville); Tortuga’s Cocina (Lambertville); and  The Washington House (Sellersville). To learn more, go to diningoutforlife.com or call ActionAIDS at 1.877.EAT.4.LIFE.

Thirsty Thursdays continues at Earl’s Bucks County with a five-course dinner, paired with beers from River Horse Brewing Company in Lambertville on April 28. Brewer Chris McGrath will pair five year-round and specialty River Horse offerings with an eclectic menu by Chef Tavares. Reservations are required for the event. Call Earl’s Bucks County at 215-794-4020 or the Peddler’s Village Hospitality Center at 215-794-4000. Cost is $60 per person plus tax and gratuity. See the full menu at myvillageinsider.com

Still don’t know what to do for Easter? Everyone in the family arguing over who will make the meal? Why not go out? See our post on where to eat out for Easter in Bucks and nearby.
