Bucks Food Calendar: September 12, 2016

Washington House wine dinner

This hot weather is a little unexpected. For a second, I thought temperatures were cooling down, and I was fully prepared to put on a sweater and walk around town, stepping all over crunchy leaves. Since we might have to hold on to summer a little bit longer, here are some “cool” events to enjoy this week in Bucks County. Be sure to check out our “on the radar” section at the bottom of this post. There are plenty of fall festivals and foodie events coming up soon!

Washington House wine dinner

Wine tasting. This Tuesday, September 13, enjoy an evening of 10 wines paired with a five-course dinner. The Washington House Restaurant invites wine lovers to try out a variety of South African wines, served to you by Gail Nyvelt of The Wine Merchant. Reservations are recommended so save your spot here or call 215.257.3000. The dinner is $59 per person.

Doylestown book club night. Everyone is welcome to the Doylestown Food Co-op’s Lentil Undergrounddiscussion of Lentil Underground: Renegade Farmers and the Future of Food in America. The book is about a group of farmers who defied corporate agribusiness by launching a farm-to-table movement. The Doylestown Food Co-op meets every Tuesday. Feel free to bring a fun fall snack or your favorite after-work treat to share. The group meets from 6:15 pm – 8 pm on Tuesday, September 13.

Community lunch.

Here’s a great opportunity to meet your neighbors and make new friends. On Wednesday, September 14, from noon – 2 pm, enjoy a community lunch at the Centenary United Methodist Church, on North Union Street, in Lambertville, NJ. The lunch, which is free and open to all, is made using organic and local ingredients.

Hardywood Beer

Hardywood beer dinner. Chef Ricky Heinrichs will be cooking a fabulous buffet-style dinner paired with Hardywood beer on Wednesday, September 14, at the Spinnerstown Hotel and Taproom. Hardywood representative Sophia Tran will be there to help with the beer. Start your night with Hardywood’s Pils, a German-style Pilsner that is crisp and pairs well with sausage or cheddar cheese. This beer leads up to a salad and appetizer followed by an entrée of chicken and waffles with pear sausage gravy. Check out the full menu here, as well as event pricing options.
