Bucks Food Calendar: October 25, 2013

Brrrr. It’s cold out! A nice weekend to curl up by the fireplace…after raking up all the leaves, of course.

Some of the highlights this week?

• Farmers’ markets that are saying goodbye and who’s sticking around until Thanksgiving.
• Oysters. Yes, oysters. And where you can get ’em in Bucks and nearby (specials too!)

To market, to market – What you can expect to find at area farmers’ markets. New this week! Celery, celeriac, daikon radish, dill and tatsoi.

Depending on the frost, this may be the last week for eggplant, string beans, peppers, sweet corn and okra. You’ll probably also find apples, arugula, beans, beets, bok choi, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, chilies, collards, eggplant, fennel, garlic, gourds, herbs, Indian corn, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, lettuce, lima beans, mushrooms, mustard greens, okra, onions, parsley, parsnips, pears, peas, peppers, potatoes, pumpkins, radishes, rutabaga, salad mix, scallions, shallots, spinach, a dozen varieties of summer & winter squash, sweet potatoes, Swiss chard, tomatoes (maybe), turnips, yams, zucchini and freshly cut flowers.
