Bucks Food Calendar: March 25, 2015

Variety is the name of the game this week. The restaurant weeks continue, plus gardening classes, a chance to learn how to make your own spring rolls, a screening of a game-changing documentary, and one special brunch featuring a giant bunny.

Give and you shall receive. The Bucks County SPCA has partnered with the Veterinarian Fund and Restaurant.com Bucks County SPCAfor a great fundraiser, Eat Out for Animals, daily through Sunday, March 29. Here’s how it works: you give $20 through the Veterinarian Fund and get a gift certificate for the restaurant of your choice valued at $50. You can choose from any of the hundreds of restaurants on restaurant.com and your gift certificate will never expire.

Love asian food? Learn to make it yourself. The Community School of New Hope-Solebury is offering a Japanese Spring Roll Class at 6:30 pm on Thursday, March 26. You’ll make them lightly pan fried in healthy safflower oil, with shrimp and mixed vegetables.

Want to know more about the food you eat? We think a lot about how our food tastes, but what about what it does to our bodies? This Thursday, March 26, the Doylestown Food Co-op Fed Upkicks off its 2015 Farm Fresh Film Series at the County Theater with the documentary Fed Up, an eye-opening expose of the food industry and its connection with obesity.

Grow your own. There are two great gardening classes this week, just in time for spring. Snipes Farm will host a Successful Organic Backyard Gardening Class at 9 am on Saturday, March 28. If you can’t make it on Saturday, or if traditional gardening hurts your back, the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance is hosting a Hay Bale Gardening Class at 7 pm on Wednesday, April 1 at the Plumsteadville Grange.
