Bucks Food Calendar: August 24, 2015

August is coming to a close, but there’s still much to taste and drink in Bucks County to kick off the last days of summer! From seafood to spirits, there’s a lot to experience this week.

You’ll be in whiskey heaven at the Logan Inn in New Hope this Thursday August 27, from 7 to 9 pm. Taste four whiskeys made by Heaven Hill Distillery out of Bardstown, KY.

Heaven Hill Whiskey Tasting

You’ll be joined by Sarah Milne, an expert and representative from Heaven Hill. There will be lots of whiskey: bourbon, rye and a wheat whiskey, to show the variety of flavor profiles from the distillery. You will have access to a nosing kit with 30 different scents to inspire you!

The tasting will be in the Logan Inn’s outdoor cabana seating area, weather permitted. Tickets are $45 per person and all attendees get a gift of an Elijah Craig cigar cutter. It’s recommended you bring your tasting journal to record your notes (and perhaps star your favorite whiskey)!

The event is hosted by Dram Devotees of Bucks County, and you can buy your tickets here.

Al Paris and Alan Heckman

Who doesn’t love an extravaganza, especially when there’s lobster involved? From 5 to 10 pm this week at The Stockton Inn, join Executive Chef Alan Heckman and celebrated Philadelphia Chef Al Paris (Paris Bistro & Jazz Café ) for a “tantalizing” tasting menu featuring everyone’s summertime favorite seafood–lobster!

The 5-course dinner is $79 per person (plus tax and gratuity). The menu features lobster in every course, even dessert. Start with the chilled lobster mole with charred chili, chocolate and pickled avocado. Then, the Maine lobster bisque, with burnt apple marmalade and creme fraiche. The grilled lobster sausage with scallop and tomato-Riesling gastrique is next, followed by the lobster summer bean cassoulet, with a lobster tail and orange glazed pork belly. Don’t forget the dessert, which is a raspberry-lavender shortcake, with port-lobster syrup.

The Lobster Extravaganza ends Sunday, September 6 so don’t wait to make your reservations. Call the restaurant at 609.397.1250 or use Open Table to book your table.

Jersey Shore Dinner_Hamilton's Grill RoomTickets for Tuesday, August 25 and Wednesday, August 26 are still available for the Jersey Shore Dinner at Hamilton’s Grill Room in Lambertville. Don’t miss out on a taste of the shore as they will sell out!

The only menu that will be served for this dinner is close to home, with fresh Jersey tomatoes, drizzled with garlic, and basil oil, steamed mussels and littleneck clams, ½ steamed Maine lobster, chicken thighs and sweet sausage, red bliss potatoes and cole slaw, Jersey corn on the cob, and homemade peach pie with whipped cream. It’s definitely a good farewell dinner to these last days of August.

Register online or call 609.397.4343. The price of the dinner is $35 plus tax & gratuity.
