7 things you gotta do in Bucks this weekend (July 8 – 10)

July is definitely here. The humidity is up and so is the temperature. Time to search for something to do this weekend that won’t be hot, sticky, and sweaty. Check out what’s happening in Bucks County, and cool off with live music and chilled drinks, a home-cooked spaghetti meal, and a special wine tasting for wine lovers.

1. Summer Grill Lunch at Shady Brook Farm

Friday, July 8, 11 am – 2 pm, Shady Brook Farm, 931 Stony Hill Rd., Yardley, PA

Come for a nice summer lunch on the patio at Shady Brook Farm. Every Friday, their summer grill is open from 11 am – 2 pm. On the menu: locally raised beef burgers, hot dogs, Griggstown Farm sausages, Just Food macaroni salad, Dijon potato salad, and sriracha coleslaw. Check out the full menu here.

2. Spaghetti Dinner

Friday, July 8, 5:30 – 7:30 pm, Delaware Valley Fire Company, Headquarters Road, Erwinna, PA

Every second Friday of the month, the Delaware Valley Fire Company serves up a spaghetti dinner made by Gino De Schrijver of Eat This, and the firefighters, too. Cost for adults is $9, seniors and emergency personnel pay $8.50, children ages seven through 12 are $6.50, and children six and under eat for free. Take out is available for $9.50. 3. Tinicum Arts Festival

Calling all art lovers! On Saturday and Sunday, grab friends and family and enjoy the work of over 180 regional artists in the centerpiece Art Barn for the Tinicum Arts Festival. There are a variety of artisan tents like the “White Elephant Tent,” which accepts old treasures such as linens, kitchen gadgets and collectibles. The “Book Wagon” is another tent that is helping recycle, and it’s accepting old books, DVD’s and CD’s. Participate in a silent auction, listen to live music, and don’t forget to grab some food! There will be fresh-squeezed lemonade, sandwiches, home-baked desserts, and more in the picnic grove. The festival is sponsored by The Tinicum Civic Association and is held on July 9 from 10 am – 6 pm, and July 10 from 11 am – 5 pm.

4. July BBQ Cooking Class

Saturday, July 9, 9 am – 1 pm, Smoke’n Dudes BBQ Co., 3400 Neshaminy Boulevard, Bensalem, PA

Need some tips on how to make a great BBQ? There are a few spots left for Smoke’n Dudes BBQ cooking class where instructors Tom and Bill Christine, the owners of Smoke’n Dudes, will teach you everything you need to know. Learn how to start a clean fire and even cook the perfect brisket. The class includes food like smoked chicken, baby back ribs, smoked beef brisket (sauce and rub tasting) as well as competition BBQ pork, and more! Registration is required and the cost is $100 per person, and $150 for two.

5. Free Ice Cream for All!

We will all be screaming for (free) ice cream this weekend at the Wrightstown Farmers Market. There will be a giant ice cream sundae making with the Bucks County Dairy Promotion. Watch the PA local dairy group build a huge, summer creation. Get here before it all melts! Free ice cream social starts at 11 am sharp.

6. Blue Son at Mojito Cuba Caribe

Back by popular demand, the indie/alternative rock band Blue Son will return to Mojito Cuba Caribe this Saturday, July 9. The band will begin rocking at 9:30 pm, and while you wait, enjoy some food and drink specials. The restaurant can make plenty of summer-y drinks to cool you down or cook up spicy Cuban appetizers to warm you up. No cover charge for this event. 7. Scentsational Fragrance and Wine Pairing Event

Sunday, July 10, 2:30 pm, Sand Castle Winery, 755 River Road, Erwinna, PA

Take wine drinking to a whole new level this weekend. Join Sand Castle Winery wine expert, Joe Maxian, and Scenterprises Fragrance expert, Sue Phillips, for an interactive journey where you can taste and explore fragrances at the same time you’re sampling wines. This interactive experience will begin at 2:30 pm with a short introduction and wine and cheese social, followed by the master class at 3 pm. The registration fee is $95  and includes light snacks, a full wine tasting, master class and fragrance ingredients sampling. Visit the winery’s website for more information or call 610.294.8303.
