7 things you gotta do in Bucks this weekend (July 21 – 24)

When I was listening to the radio this morning, the talk show host said some of the keys to happiness include eating more fruits and vegetables, and trying something new (this was based on a study).

If that’s true, you’ll find happiness this weekend in Bucks County. Cool down with a special slushy, listen to some music with a tasty treat in your hand, and pick up some fresh produce for your next summer party.

Events are listed in chronological order

1. Special Wine Sale

Since there are some very big changes coming to the Milford Oyster House in NJ, (the restaurant is closing and reopening as The Milford House in August) Amy Coss, soon-to-be-former owner of the restaurant said that she needed to get rid of her overflowing inventory of spirits. This Thursday, July 21, head over to MOH to get some discounted bottles with unique flavors.

Some of the inventory includes: nine bottles of Louis Jadot, more than a case of 2013 Stag’s Leap Cabernet, Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc Comaine du Père Caboche, and 2011 McMurray Ranch Pinot Noir. If you are shopping for something really esoteric, they have a special white wine called Damilano Arneis Langhe from Vezza d’Alba, Italy. There is also a selection of liquor priced to sell.

2. Wrightstown Farmers Market

Saturday, July 23, Wrightstown Farmers Market, 2203 2nd Street Pike, Wrightstown, PA

Wrightstown Farmers Market

There’s much happening this weekend at the Wrightstown Farmers Market. The food truck onsite will be Bonjour Creperie, which uses fine ingredients like young hen eggs and locally sourced flours and milks to make their goodies. Kids can enjoy a lesson on how to make their own mini composter to take home.

The new vendor at the market this weekend is The Wayfare Baker, an artisan baking company that produces old world style, naturally leavened sourdough breads. They are made with local whole grains that are grown and milled in Pennsylvania. Other vendors include: Milk House Farm Market, Blooming Glen Farm, Apple Ridge Farm, and more! If you are looking for produce, the market will have heirloom tomatoes, corn, peaches, and blueberries. Get more information about this week’s market here.

This Saturday, July 23 between 11 am – 2 pm, the BBQ joint will be offering tastes of its Wagyu skirt steak and alligator fritters. Yes, they have alligator. According to Smoke’n Dudes, alligator tail is a great alternative to traditional white meats. It can be fried, grilled or swapped in for your standard proteins.

Alligator not your fancy? Head to Hickory Kitchen in Doylestown for breakfast this weekend. That’s right, a BBQ joint that also serves breakfast. We recommend the breakfast wraps and of course, the cornbread pancakes. Their kitchen is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 9- 11:30 am.
