6 things you gotta do in Bucks this weekend (Sept 18-20)

1. 3rd Annual Tavern Night at Morgan Log House

Friday, Sept 18, 6 – 9 pm, Morgan Log House, 850 Weikel Rd, Kulpsville, PA

(We know it’s not technically Bucks County but it sounds like fun)

The 3rd Annual Tavern Night Fundraiser is on Friday, September 18, from 6 – 9 pm at Morgan Log House (upper field). It will be an exciting and “mouthwatering” evening featuring authentic 18th century foods, music and drinks. Colonial beer brewing and 18th century distilling demonstrations will be ongoing, as well as after-hours-tours of the unique historic structure. There will also be seasonal harvest plants, colonial cooking in the original hearth and a silent auction.

Come before general admission with a VIP hour, from 5 – 6 pm. Tickets are $65 per person during this hour, and for general admission, tickets are $40 per person, from 6 – 8 pm. There is also a couple’s ticket for $70 and a $30 designated driver ticket. Tickets includes all food, drinks, and admission to the Log House. No tickets will be sold at the door so buy in advance!

2. Bolton Mansion Fall Festival

Saturday, Sept 19, 9 am – 3 pm, Bolton Mansion, 85 Holly Drive, Levittown. Pa

What? You’ve never heard of Bolton Mansion? Come out and enjoy fall at the historic home owned by Phineas Pemberton and built circa 1687. The day includes a Revolutionary War Encampment, hearth cooking demonstration, candle making, tours of the mansion, live music, face painting, games and contests with prizes and a candy bar! And caramel apples! There will also be cider, hot dogs, popcorn, etc. A great day for the family.

3. Newtown Beerfest

Saturday, Sept 19, 12:30 – 5:30 pm, The Stocking Works, 410 South State Street, Newtown Borough, PA

The countdown is over and it’s time for the 2015 Newtown Beerfest presented to you by the Newtown Fire Association. On Saturday, September 19 from 12:30 – 5 pm, come for beer tasting, live music, food and fun. There’s a huge lineup of brews and breweries this year. 

First tap has limited availability, and it is from 12:30 – 2 pm for $75 per person. General admission will be from 2 – 5:30 pm for $40 per person. Don’t feel like drinking? Be the designated driver with a $10 ticket. The event will be held rain or shine (with tents provided if it does rain) and tickets are required for all attendees. No one under 21 will be admitted, and everyone must have a valid ID. No children, babies, pets, chairs and firearms are allowed at the beerfest.

4. 2nd Annual Chicken BBQ at the Wycombe Train Station

Sat, Sept 19, 3 – 8 pm, Historic Wycombe Train Station, Township Line Road and Mill Creek Road, Wycombe, PA

Last year was the first Chicken BBQ to benefit the pretty Wycombe Train Station Garden and it was a huge success (they ran out of chicken!). So stop by this year and hang out munching with the locals, or get take-away. A half-chicken is $8.50 or get the Chicken Dinner which includes ½ chicken, potato salad, corn, rolls and butter, and water or soda for $13.50. All proceeds benefit the Wycombe Train Station Garden.

5. Firehouse Breakfasts

Sunday, Sept 20, 7:30 am to 12:30 pm

We’ve got TWO great firehouse breakfasts this Sunday, one at the Perkasie Fire Co and the other in Riegelsville at Community Fire Co. #1. Come eat your fill of pancakes, waffles, eggs, ham, sausage, scrapple, omelets, creamed dried beef on toast, all cooked by the firefighters. These are two of the best firehouse breakfasts in the county, occurring on the 3rd Sunday monthly. Help support your local fire department — and get a great breakfast too.

6. 4th Annual Taste of Playwicki

Sunday, Sept 20, 2 – 6 pm, Brookside Manor, 50 Bustleton Pike, Feasterville-Trevose, PA

4th Annual "Taste for Playwicki"

A celebrated culinary event is back! The annual “Taste for Playwicki” fundraiser features prizes from local restaurants, food, beer, wine and desserts. There will be music and entertainment by “KIRKO.”
Tickets are $40 per person, or 2 for $75. Tickets at the door are $45, and tickets can be purchased on their website here, or send a check payable to Playwicki Farm Foundation, 1500 Desire Avenue, Feasterville, Pa. 19053. Questions?
