Techniques of International Cooking Hands-On

When you start with the best ingredients – aged cheeses, cured meats, balsamic vinegar – it’s easier to make simple dishes taste truly authentic. With international cooking, ingredients and techniques vary by region but they share common elements. Sign up for this class taught by Conquering Cuisine in Doylestown and you’ll learn these techniques and how to prepare dishes that are representative of the country as a whole using authentic ingredients and tried-and-true preparations. Class starts at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, April 17.

Food Systems Institute Seminar: Forest Farming and Multifunctional Riparian Buffers

Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA)
Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA)

Forest farming and multifunctional riparian buffers are increasingly being used to enhance natural resource stewardship while advancing economic viability on farms. Explore this topic and more during a presentation at Delaware Valley University on how farmers are integrating land stewardship, farm systems, and value-added processing successfully.

Want to learn more? See our post about local farmer Chris Whitney who is practicing permaculture on his Lambertville farm.

The presentation features Hannah Smith-Brubaker, executive director of PASA, a sustainable agriculture education and research organization (where our local organic farmers go for their education). Previously she served as Pennsylvania Agriculture Deputy Secretary for Markets and Economic Development. She will provide photos of the work that she has accomplished on her own farm, as well as provide images of other creative buffer experiments throughout Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic region. The seminar starts at 6 pm in Mandell Building Room 114.

The dinner features flavors of spring, peel and eat shrimp, chocolate torte, and the best beers to go with it. It’s $65 per person (includes tax and gratuity). Neighbors Night at Cafe Blue Moose

Blue Moose Cafe
Blue Moose Cafe

We always say some of the best locals night specials are in (and around) Bucks County. If you’re looking for a mid-week meal, try Cafe Blue Moose in New Hope this Wednesday, April 18. In addition to their regular menu, Cafe Blue Moose will feature a three-course prix fixe menu to locals every Wednesday for $26. The menu includes dishes like creamy tomato soup, chicken flautas, and carrot cake. Enjoy!

There’s more where that came from…locals nights are all over Bucks County, every day! You just need to know where to look. We can save you some time – check out our guide to dining out locally. Tell them Bucks County Taste sent you!
