Spring? Well, maybe not. But we certainly got a taste of springtime this weekend. Although the nice weather may not last, it was fun seeing everyone shed some layers and bask in the sun.
Restaurants may not be putting out their deck furniture just yet so enjoy some of these new menus and specials in Bucks County, like tasty Irish breakfast dishes, family style tacos, or pizza for a good cause.

Bucks County Food calendar: Irish menu specials. March is just around the corner, and with it comes St. Paddy’s Day, a holiday known for serving up traditional Irish dishes paired with rich beers like Guinness. So, why not kick off the holiday early with Karlton Cafe’s latest Irish menus specials?
While you are there, try out the Reuben omelette, chocolate stout bread french toast, Irish Banger roll-ups, or Shamrock cakes. Stay for their lunch and try the blood orange soaked wild salmon salad or the Reuben Panini. You can reserve a spot by calling 215.538.8353 or head over to the cafe as a walk-in guest.
Mama’s new empanadas and dips. If you love mushrooms, you’ll be thrilled to know that Empanada Mama’s savory mushroom empanada (one of my favorites) is back! Also, check out their new pork salsa verde empanada with pickled red onions and mozzarella. These empanadas pair perfectly with Mama’s creamy avocado dip. Better grab some before they’re all sold out!
Maple syrup week. The Silver Lake Nature Center in Bristol welcomes you to a special seasonal program for maple syrup week, from February 21 through February 25. It’s $6 per person for an 1 – 1½ hour program or $8 per person for a three-hour program. In order to save your spot, contact pacutter@buckscounty.org or 215.7851177.

“Pizza for the Prom” Night. This week, enjoy some “zah” from Liberty Hall Pizza in order to help the New Hope-Solebury High School fundraise for their 2017 junior/senior prom. Their fundraising efforts will start on February 21 and end February 23 from 5 – 9 pm. If you visit Liberty Hall during this time, mention you are there to support the school and the restaurant will donate 15% of each diner’s bill to the fundraising drive.
Taco Tuesday! Get your bellies ready for some tacos, because this week is the Comfortfood & Kitchenette‘s comfort food and a classic movie night. For $25 per person (plus gratuity and tax) you can enjoy endless tacos with a great flick. So, head over to Morrisville at 7 pm for some tacos served family style with chips, homemade salsas, pickled veggies.

Because Chef Kim is always trying to offer her customers new and exciting dishes, their blackboard is always updated with the daily menu (see their blog for more ideas!)
8th Annual Locavore Buy Local. Superior Woodcraft in Doylestown hosts the 8th annual Bucks Locavore Buy Local networking event this Thursday, February 23. The popular networking event spotlights tons of locally produced gourmet foods, beverages and delicacies. While you walk around to mingle, you can savor the cuisine and view the inside of this fascinating factory and wood workshop.
Over 30 local producers will offer tasty samples of their products; everything from pansy marmalade to craft brews will be available for you to try!
The Wrightstown Farmers Market, Hewn Spirits, Doylestown Brewing Co., and Bill’s Best BBQ are just some of the vendors that will be there. Attendance is free and open to the public.

Bucks Bacon & Beer 2017. Tickets are now available for the 4th Annual Bucks Bacon & Beer on Sunday, March 19 from 12 – 4 pm at Triumph Brewing Company in New Hope, co-sponsored by Bucks County Taste.
It’s all about the bacon! Be it smoked, cured, artisanal, or non-nitrate, come and taste the best. Enjoy locally sourced and locally made bacon, sausage, cheese and other delectable foods from local purveyors, farmers and butchers. While you are there, enjoy a barrel tapping of a sweet beer, brewed by Triumph Brewing Company. Tickets are $45 for noon entrance and $40 for 2 pm entrance. Don’t wait.
