8 things you gotta do in Bucks this weekend (September 9 – 11 )

Doylestown Arts Festival

With the mini heat wave we’re about to endure, you would almost think it’s the middle of July again. The weather may have you fooled, and so will this weekend of foodie events. It’s a nice mix of autumn festivals, end-of-summer BBQs, and a few ways to celebrate the fall harvest.

Events are listed in chronological order

1. Spaghetti Dinner

Friday, September 9, 5:30 – 7:30 pm, Delaware Valley Fire Company, Headquarters Rd., Erwinna, PA

Every second Friday of the month, the Delaware Valley Fire Company serves up a spaghetti dinner made by Gino De Schrijver of Eat This, and the firefighters, too. Cost for adults is $9, seniors and emergency personnel pay $8.50, children ages seven through 12 are $6.50, and children six and under eat for free. Take out is available for $9.50. 2. Autumn Market Under the Trees

The Yardley Friends Meeting hosts the Autumn Market Under the Trees this Saturday, September 10 from 8 am – 3 pm. This autumn market will have a delicious homemade luncheon, desserts and vegetarian fare.

Besides the food, there will be antiques, arts, crafts, jewelry, books and other vendors. Live music will be playing as well. It’s also the group’s annual food drive, so please bring one non-perishable food item to be collected.

3. Doylestown Arts Festival

Saturday, September 10 – Sunday, September 11, Downtown Doylestown, PA

Doylestown Arts Festival
The first Doylestown Arts Festival debuted in the fall of 1991, and to this day it’s still going strong. This Saturday and Sunday, the festival will feature 160 juried artists, five stages of live music, two food courts, live demonstrations and more.

The festival features two food courts located in the Hamilton Street parking lot and Dommel Way, near State and Main Street. The food varies from traditional festival fare, vegetarian, local restaurants and bars, and more.

The festival is located in the streets of Doylestown, PA. It’s free to attend, rain or shine.

4. Harvest Days

Saturday, September 10, 10 am – 4 pm, Bucks County Gardens, 1057 N. Easton Rd., Doylestown, PA

This Saturday, September 10 the festivities of the first ever Bucks County Gardens’ Harvest Days begin. There will be plenty of fall-themed activities like a corn maze, hayrides, pumpkin and face painting, games, raffles, food, beverages and seasonal treats. The Harvest Days last until October 31. Tickets are $15, and children three and under are free every day. There will be special events each weekend, so keep an eye on the Garden’s Facebook page.

5. Third Annual Garces Foundation Summer BBQ

Saturday, September 10, 1 – 4 pm, Luna Farm, Ottsville, PA

Join chef Jose Garces for a summer barbecue lunch at his Luna Farm in Ottsville, benefiting the non-profit Garces Foundation. There will be tours of the farm, Garces signing his cookbooks, make-and-take herb seed plantings, 20 minute guided hiking trails, lawn games and activities for kids.Enjoy beer, wine, specialty cocktails, lemonade, as well as barbecue and other picnic foods.

The event is held on the farm, and parking can be found at the Palisades Middle School. The barbecue runs from 1 – 4 pm, and tickets cost $75 per person, $30 for children and its free for children under five. Tickets can be purchased here.

6. None Such Farm to Table Dinner

Saturday, September 10, 5:00 pm, None Such Farm, 4493 York Rd., Buckingham, PA

None Such Farm Experience a farm-to-table dinner at None Such Farm this weekend on Saturday, September 10, at 5 pm. This is the farm’s 6th annual dinner, and it features the farm’s beef and produce. The dinner is also served on the farm.

The dinner features appetizers like beet and goat cheese mousse on crostini and pork belly with spicy bourbon peach glaze. Main courses include slow roasted BBQ brisket, baked corn custard, and even chimichurri grilled french tip, to name a few of the dishes. The full menu can be found here.

Tickets are almost sold out, but there are a few left. One ticket is $125, but you can also purchase friends and family package of four tickets for $350, or a two ticket package for $200. Buy tickets online or call the 215.794.5201 ext. 2.

7. Harvest Moon Square Dance

Saturday, September 10, 6 – 10 pm, Hope Ridge Farm, 2050 Aquetong Rd., New Hope, PA

The Friends of the Free Library of New Hope & Solebury are hosting their Harvest Moon Square Dance in the historical barn at Hope Ridge Farm in New Hope on September 10 from 6 – 10 pm. No experience needed, just a love for dancing and having a good time.
The evening will feature a cookie contest with entries by local realtors, so in between dancing you’ll be able to snack on the cookies and vote for your favorite.Light bites, soda, beer, and wine are included. Tickets are $35 for members of the Friends of the Library, $40 for non-members. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling 215.862-5705.

8. Breakfast

Sunday, September 11, 8 am – 1 pm, Silverdale Fire Co., 111 Main Street, Silverdale, PA

Enjoy some classic breakfast foods this Sunday at the Silverdale Fire Co., including pancakes, sausage, french toast, eggs, ham, potatoes, and dried beef. Cost for adults is $6.50, children six to 12 years old are $3.50, under six years old eat free. Take out is available. Call to confirm at 215.257.9620.
