5 things you gotta do in Bucks this weekend (June 23 – 26)

It’s definitely summer (just passed the solstice). And even though the July 4th holiday is right around the corner — and the food calendar can slow down a bit — there’s still a variety of interesting food events in Bucks County this weekend, like cheap mimosas, French cuisine, and yoga at a vineyard. Enjoy!


1. Herb & Pesto Night

Thursday, June 23, 7 – 8:15 pm, Pennypack Farm & Education Center, 685 Mann Road, Horsham, PA

Are you a herb fanatic or do you just really love to cook with different scents like basil and sage? This demonstration on Thursday, June 23 (today!) is perfect for the chefs out there. Head to Pennypack Farm & Education Center and join Beth Miller, master food preserver, for tips on drying and storing herbs. They’ll be tasting a variety of pestos that you can easily make at home. You’ll also learn how to pickle some of your favorite summer vegetables as well. Register online and reserve your spot for $10.

2. $1 Mimosas for Breakfast

Everyone loves mimosas but sometimes, you just don’t want to spend $8 a glass. That’s why The Hattery Stove & Still, at the Doylestown Inn is kicking off the start of summer with $1 mimosa cocktails for breakfast. It starts this Friday, June 2 and continues through Labor Day. Enjoy a delicious drink made with Florida orange juice and champagne from 9 am – 11 am.

General manager Alex Nelinson said that these mimosas will go nicely with just about anything on their breakfast menu. Mimosas will be a dollar through 9 – 11 am on Mondays through Fridays.

3. Paris in the Village (cont.)

Peddler’s Village
is showing a “Murder at the Moulin Rouge” as an open air theater production on the Peddler’s Village Main Green at 7 pm on Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27. Cost of the show is $59.95, which includes dinner and a show (plus tax and service charges).

Guest should arrive in the lobby of the Cock ‘n Bull Restaurant by 7 pm. Cocktail service is available. Groups are welcome and it’s for mature audiences only. Children under 18 are not permitted to attend.

Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26 there will be a French wine stroll through the village. You’ll be able to taste 19 wines from all regions of France. The cost is $40 per person. Reservation times are 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm, and 5 pm. Purchase tickets here.

Also on Saturday and Sunday, from 12 – 6 pm, visit the Village’s Bistro at the Gazebo for a French food garden serving crepes, croissants and truffle fries while you enjoy the artisans, live entertainment, and music on the Main Green.

On Saturday, June 25, there is a Madeleine afternoon tea in the Cock ‘n Bull Garden Room. There will be a buffet-style afternoon tea starting at 3 pm for $20 per person. Enjoy some of the menu items like classic tea sandwiches, traditional scones or tea cookies. Here is the full menu.

Finally, on Sunday, there will be a Parisian brunch at the Cock ‘n Bull which will be served from 9:30 am – 2 pm. Menu items include fresh muffins and croissants, an omelette station, and sweets for the table. The full menu is here.

4. Firehouse Breakfast

Sunday, June 26, 8 am – 12 pm, Haycock Fire Company, 850 Old Bethlehem Road, Quakertown, PA

Enjoy the locals’ favorite all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet at the Haycock Fire Company in Quakertown. The fire company will be serving breakfast from 8 am – 12 pm. Adults pay $7, children from ages four to seven $5, and children three and under eat free. There will be pancakes, french toast, scrambled eggs, ham, sausage links, plain and seasoned potatoes, cream chipped beef, toast, fruit cocktail, and homemade desserts.

5. Vinyasa Yoga & Wine Tasting

Sunday, June 26, Crossing Vineyards and Winery, 1853 Wrightstown Rd., Washington Crossing, PA

Enjoy a one hour session of Vinyasa yoga, and then relax even more with a private tasting of Crossing Vineyard’s wines with assorted cheese, cured meats and chocolates. The cost is $45 per person and reservations are necessary. Call 215.493.6500 ext. 19 or buy online here.
