Wintry mix, snow, etc., etc. No worries, there are some food-filled events this week to cheer you up. Donuts, chocolate, New Orleans-styled food, and more chocolate—lots of comfort food and snacks to chase away the winter blues.
You’ve been waiting for it. You read it in our post last week, and now you have a hankering for some donuts. Head over to Crossroads Bakery for this one day only event on Tuesday, February 9. Their “faux” donut is actually an amazing “not fried” French pastry. They are available in plain, cinnamon and powdered crazy. As you can imagine, they sell like crazy so place your order if you want a dozen or more. But there’s more—Maryanne Pastry Shoppe, Yum-Yum Bake Shop, Warrington Bakery and Rilling’s Bakery.
Confused as to what a “fastnacht” is? You must have missed this: Fastnacht is coming!
It’s also Fat Tuesday at the Washington House Restaurant. At 5 pm on Tuesday, February 9, enjoy New Orleans inspired entrees including shrimp jambalaya and catfish Creole for $16 plus more specials for this day.
On Thursday, February 11, get a head start on Valentine’s Day at Hamilton’s Grill Room in Lambertville. The monthly Wednesdays for Women (on Thursday temporarily) will host Claudia Confoy, assistant brewer at Triumph Brewing Company (and the first woman brewer at Triumph). She will introduce you to the taste of Triumph’s chocolate porter, made just for this occasion. You will also learn about the pairing of beer to food and which beers make a good complement to chocolate.
For reservations please email your dinner selections to judybrklyn@gmai
Also on Thursday, February 11, The Friends of Washington Crossing Park and Doylestown Brewing Company have entered into a joint venture to launch Patriot Pale Ale, a new beer available in select locations in Bucks County and New Jersey. The ale is dry hopped and aged on oak chips in order to replicate the oak cask storage of the past. Patriot Pale Ale is currently available at the brewery’s location at 22 S. Main Street in Doylestown as well as The Continental Tavern in Yardley and Patriots Crossing Tavern, just over the Washington Crossing bridge in Titusville, NJ. A portion of the sales from the beer will be donated to the Friends of Washington Crossing Park. Cheers!
