Bet you thought we weren’t going to have a list of things for you to do this weekend! Despite all of the turkey we gobbled down, we managed to round-up a few fun activities for you to enjoy.

And don’t forget, although the post-Thanksgiving weekend is often all about shopping, it’s important to keep it local. There are plenty of businesses and restaurants that are happy to serve you and the community, so show your support by coming out for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday!

1. Black Friday Sales & Food Specials

Friday, November 25, Bucks County and Hunterdon County

Black Friday sales go beyond the shopping malls and online deals. Here are a few suggestions of where you can shop to keep things local on Black Friday. Enjoy the savings!

  • Rising Sun Inn in Telford wants you to give a tasteful gift this year, and they are offering $100 gift cards to their restaurant for only $79. This offer is only valid on Friday. Call 215.721.6350 for more information.
  • 15170931_1260621014008518_8963407291257050_nKarlton Cafe in Quakertown is thanking its customers with a Black Friday special. Come in and purchase a $50 gift card on Friday and receive a coupon for 10% a future lunch with them.
  • Alba Vineyards in the village of Finesville, Milford, NJ is hosting its holiday open house weekend from Friday, November 25 to Sunday, November 27. Come in for samplings of wines, food pairings, and a special Alba wine glass. More information can be found here.
  • Olive Oil Etcetera in Doylestown will be open Friday from 10 – 9 pm and will give out a 10% discount for using an Olive Oil Etcetera reusable bag. Keep an eye out for more Black Friday deals by checking out their Facebook page.

2. Friday Freestyle Flights of Wine

If you didn’t get enough wine last night, you can create your own tasting flight this Friday in Bucks County. Start by choosing four different wines from a list of 20 wines (the list will change month-to-month). Each taste added up equals a six-ounce glass of wine, and the total for all the tastes of wine is $10. A printed guide includes descriptions to help you choose which wine is best for you.

3. Lumberville General Store Supper Club

Take a break from all the holiday rush and join the Lumberville General Store for their weekly Supper Club from 6 – 9 pm. They have a great menu planned now and throughout the month of December. Come every weekend to try something new, because no membership is required.

Also the Lumberville General Store is offering a selection of mini desserts for just $0.50 a piece. Choose from peppermint cheesecake, eggnog cake, creme puffs, or chocolate ganache tart.

4. Small Business Saturday

There’s Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and then there is Small Business Saturday. And there are plenty of places in Bucks County and nearby that want you to come out this weekend and see what they’ve got. Here are just a few places we’ve gathered that we recommend you check out, but as always, supporting any local business is the right thing to do!

  • Manoff Market Gardens has sweet apples (many varieties!) and fresh pressed cider every week, as well as other delicious local foods, like homemade apple butter, jams, cheese and beautiful gift baskets.
  • Dad’s Hat Pennsylvania Rye Whiskey distills rye whiskey from locally sourced ingredients in their Bristol, PA distillery and tasting room. But you can also buy their whiskey — including their Straight Rye Whiskey — at your local state store. Visit the distillery in Bucks County for limited release whiskeys, double-finish whiskeys, and tours. Sign up for a tour in advance here.

  • Doylestown Food Market welcomes you this weekend for some shopping deals on products like Life Factory food containers and bottles, Chico bags reusable bags, To Go Ware bamboo utensil sets, local soy candles, and select preserves, spreads and sauces.
  • Continental Tavern is offering $25 gift cards for $20 in honor of Small Business Saturday.
  • Peddler’s Village’s own Casa Casale has an assortment of imported pastas and sauces, cheeses, and more for your Italian kitchen pantry. Check them out this weekend, along with the other small business friendly food shops in the village, like Skip’s Candy Corner, which has pounds of fudge and chocolate covered pretzels.

5. Firehouse Breakfast

Nothing beats a warm meal on a cool Sunday morning. Enjoy the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet at the Haycock Fire Company in Quakertown this Sunday. The fire company is serving breakfast from 8 am – 12 pm. Adults pay $7, children from ages four to seven $5, and children three and under eat free. There will be pancakes, french toast, scrambled eggs, ham, sausage links, plain and seasoned potatoes, cream chipped beef, toast, fruit cocktail, and homemade desserts.

6. Brunch Benefit at the Hattery Stove & Still

The Hattery Stove & Still welcomes Melissa Matarese for her “Abundant Earth” fundraiser. Matarese, a yoga teacher and artist that lives in Doylestown, will be on site with her art, to raise money and awareness for Rolling Harvest Food Rescue. Rolling Harvest is dedicated to increasing access to farm fresh produce in our local hunger relief network. They collect surplus produce from local farms and get it immediately to those in need. Ten percent of brunch receipts (from 10 am – 2 pm) and 20% of all art sales (10 am – 4 pm) will go directly to Rolling Harvest.

7. Tree Lighting Ceremony

This Sunday, November 27, kick off the start of the holiday season with a tree lighting at the Logan Inn in New Hope. There will be music, carolers, fireworks, and cookies with hot cocoa on the patio. Plus, a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus who will help light the New Hope tree. Stop at the Logan Inn before for drinks or some food, and stay for the ceremony which begins at 5:30 pm.
