1. 20th Batch of Union Street IPA
Friday, January 20, 11 am – midnight, Doylestown Brewing Company, Hops Bar & Grill, 52 E. State St., Doylestown, PA
The Doylestown Brewing Company has done it. They are officially on the 20th batch of Union Street IPA, which is equivalent to 250 kegs. Basically, that’s a lot of beer.
To celebrate, the brewing company is hosting a little party all day, this Friday, January 20. There will be specials from 11 am – 12 am, like $3 pints of the Union Street IPA. Appetizers are $6 starting at 4:30 pm for happy hour. The brewers have one firkin of Union Street IPA with grapefruit zest and one pin of Union Street IPA with coffee beans (firkin and pin are units of measurement for beer). The head brewer, Justin Low, will be ready to tap these delicious brews for you to try. Cheers!
2. First Annual Soup-a-thon
Saturday, January 21, participating Rivertown restaurants
Get your soup on and warm yourself up at participating restaurants from January 21 – January 29. For the nine days of the Winter Festival (which begins this weekend), enjoy a $3 cup or $6 bowl of Winterfest soups at participating restaurants.
For instance, DiNapoli’s in Lambertville is serving up its famous “Peasant Style” Italian soup. Royal T’s at the Mansion Inn in New Hope has a lobster corn chowder, and the Logan Inn has a warm potato leek with crab soup. So many options, and only a little over a week to try them all! 3. Soup, Chili, Used Book, Rummage and Bake Sale
Saturday, January 21, 10 am – 12 pm, Chalfont Fire House, 301 N. Main St., Chalfont, PA
The Chalfont Fire Company is hosting a soup, chili, used book, rummage and bake sale this weekend. Head over from 10 am – 12 pm for some vegetable beef and chicken noodle soup for only $6 a quart. Chili is $7 a quart, and there will be plenty of assorted homemade baked goods available for all of you with a sweet tooth and no time to bake. 4. Edgar Allan Poe Tea
Saturday, January 21, 1 – 3 pm, Summerseat, Hillcrest and Legion Avenues, Morrisville, PA
The Historic Morrisville Society invites you to celebrate the world-renowned poet, Edgar Allan Poe. Join the society for live readings of Poe’s work, a documentary of Poe’s life, and a fun trivia quiz to test your Poe knowledge. While you’re there, enjoy New England clam chowder from Under the Pier, fresh garden salad from Mannino’s, oyster crackers, rolls and butter, hot teas, iced tea and water. There will also be a homemade sweets section at the dessert bar. Tickets are $25 and you can call Diane to make your reservations at 215.584.2936.
5. Winter Fest Blues and BBQ
Sunday, January 22, 3 – 7 pm, Elks Lodge, 66 Wilson St., Lambertville, NJ
There’s nothing better to chase away those winter blues than tasty BBQ and some classic blues tunes. Caleb’s American Grill is sponsoring the food, with all the homestyle BBQ and fixings you can eat. The Bob Lanza Blues Band will provide the “blues.” If you’re a sports fan, enjoy the NFL playoffs on large screen TVs at the Elks Lodge. Tickets are $20 in advance, and $25 at the door. 6. Dinner with Friends
Sunday, January 22, 5:30 pm, Bux-Mont Christian Church, 400 Jacksonville Rd., Ivyland, PA
“Dinner with friends” is offered every fourth Sunday of the month for those in need in the local community. The church offers this hot, hearty meal free of charge. This month’s dinner is pork loin, mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, corn, rolls, apple pie, and assorted drinks. Dinner starts at 5:30 pm.
