The times, they are a’changing. Daylight saving time ends this Sunday (turn the clocks back…”Fall behind, Spring ahead”). After the Halloween festivities this weekend, it’ll be time to start thinking about Thanksgiving (keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming 2014- Going Out for Thanksgiving and Fresh Turkeys in Bucks-2014 posts). Enjoy the spooky festivities and fall fun this weekend before the holiday season goes into full swing!
Halloween. The Washington House Restaurant is getting into the spirit on Friday, October 31 by hosting a Halloween themed Beer Tasting featuring their favorite pumpkin beers. Stop in between 5 – 7 pm to get a taste.
Afterwards, head to the Lumberville General Store Supper Club to get a taste of their spooky three course prix-fixe menu: Graveyard Veggie Pizza, Ghoulish Sausage Stuffed Pumpkin or Wicked Cheese & Pumpkin Manicotti, and Haunting Lime Torte or Spooky Pecan Pie. The Supper Club is 6 – 9 pm, Friday and Saturday night, October 31 and November 1.
Wear your best gown 
or tux to support the Michener Museum at their Celestial Gala this Saturday, November 1 . The event is the first in Bucks County to be catered by the one and only Stephen STARR Events, with music provided by the band Sermon!, who performed at Philadelphia’s inaugural Diner en Blanc earlier this fall. All proceeds will go to support the museum’s exhibits and educational programming. For more information, see the event’s page, here.
After Halloween, things start to fast forward to the winter holiday season. Stores will be switching out 
their Halloween decorations for tinsel and Christmas trees before you know it, so take advantage of the traditional fall fun while you still can. This weekend will be the last of the Family Fun Weekends at Terhune Orchards. Bring the kids for pick-your-own pumpkins and apples, take a hayride, get lost in a corn maze, and then take a break to chase down some pumpkin muffins or apple pie with fresh pressed apple cider (or their delicious caramel apples, pictured below). The Family Fun Weekends are open from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday, November 1 and 2.
Flemington Restaurant Week. This coming week, November 3-7, the restaurants of Flemington are offering special menus and prices. Hop in the car and check out what the town across the river has to offer. For a list of participating restaurants and what they’re offering, head over to this website.
To market, to market. Here’s what you’ll find at area farmers’ markets: Apples, apple cider, arugula, Asian greens, basil, beans, beets, bok choi, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chilies, cilantro, collard greens, cucumbers, dill, edible flowers, eggplant, endive, escarole, fennel, garlic, gourds, head lettuce, herbs, Indian corn, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, lima beans, mushrooms, mustard greens, okra, onions, parsley, parsnips, pears, peas, peppers, potatoes, pumpkins, radicchio, radishes, red leaf lettuce, rutabaga, salad mix, scallions, shallots, snap peas, spinach, a dozen varieties of summer & winter squash, Swiss chard, tomatillos, tomatoes, turnips, yams, zucchini and freshly cut flowers.
Most markets will also have: eggs from free-range chickens, grass-fed and pastured meats, preserves, specialty foods, baked goods like breads, cakes, cookies and pastries, cheese and yogurt, locally roasted coffee, and interesting crafts from local artisans.
