‘Tis the season to eat! Not to overdo it, because we’ve all got enough pressure on us before the holidays – including caloric pressure – but by the looks of the Bucks County Taste food calendar, there is much to eat and drink this week.
Cookie Sales. Many churches and organizations hold bake sales and cookie “walks” this time of year to raise money. What a great way to taste some homemade cookies, especially those from different traditions like the Mennonites and Ukrainians. See the calendar below for details.
Wine, wine, wine. This weekend is the Bucks County Wine Trail’s Holiday Celebration going on at wineries all over the county. Stop by Wycombe Vineyards for their Sip & Shop, enjoy some wine and pick up some local artisan items by Lunasea Art Ware, Owl & Hourglass Jewelry, Silk Scarves by Robin Long and Wash Tyme Hand Made Soaps. Crossing Vineyards will be offering several wine tasting courses and holiday music in the coming weeks, in addition to their Holiday Celebration this weekend. An
d stop by Buckingham Valley Winery for their yummy Port and Sparkling Wine (like Champagne, only local). Unionville Vineyards in Ringoes has also just released their Port Vat #16. All the wineries have gift baskets and other fun gift ideas.
To market, to market. Yep, you heard me right. You can still get local food at local farmers’ markets, not to mention great gifts. Both the Wrightstown Farmers’ Market and the New Hope Farmers’ Market hold “mini” winter markets. Wrightstown on the 2nd Saturday of every month through April (THIS Saturday from 10 – 11 am), and New Hope on the 3rd Thursday. Sign up for their emails to get up-to-the-minute notification of products and vendors. For Wrightstown, go to the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance website. For the New Hope Market, go to their site. Don’t forget the Stockton Farmers’ Market, indoor and open every Friday – Sunday, year round. And if you’re in the Princeton area, stop by the Season’s Greeting Craft Fair & Eat Slow Winter Farmers’ Market too this Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm.
