Hello August! Stay cool with this week’s delicious food events.
What’s on tap? If you love craft beer, this is a great week for you. On Wednesday evening, the Spinnerstown Hotel hosts the Great Lakes Brewing Company as part of their Meet the Brewery series. The 3-course dinner ($55 pp) pairs a different beer with each dish. Here’s a peek at the menu: Aloha Ale & Sharpshooter Session Wheat IPA with grilled chicken skewers, salt & vinegar chip dust; Lake Erie Monster with pork medallion; and for dessert, the Alberta Clipper Porter with fig mascarpone and cannoli ice cream. For more information and tickets, click here.
Also on Wednesday, local brewery Free Will Brewing takes over the taps at the Stockton Inn. At McCoole’s on Thursday night, come to a Luau with Kona Brewery. And the Washington House in Sellersville hosts a beer tasting of Allagash Brewing Company, the Belgian Style brewery from Maine, on Friday night.
If beer ain’t your beverage of choice, check out the bourbon tasting at Bowman’s Tavern on Thursday hosted by the Meetup group, Dram Devotees of Bucks County. You’ll have the opportunity to taste four award-winning bourbons from the Buffalo Trace Distillery. The fun begins at 7 pm. Cost is $45 per person (which includes a Buffalo Trace gift bag). Information and tickets are available at Meetup.com/Dram Devotees of Bucks County.
Salsa, Empanadas y tu. It’s Salsa Night at Myerov Farm this Thursday, August 6. Enjoy live instruction by World Champion Salsa Dancer Jose Maldonado, fresh food and local brews. $25 includes complimentary food and drink from Empanada Mama and Keystone Home Brew. Advanced tickets can be purchase at Empanada Mama in Doylestown or via Paypal at myerovfarm.com.
The Final Summer Farm Tour (sniffle). This Wednesday evening is the last of the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance’s 2015 series of popular farm evenings that introduce consumers to the local small-scale producers who put the freshest foods onto our tables. The potluck, followed by a tour of the Tinicum CSA Farm, begins at 6 pm. These tours are a great way to learn more about our local farmers, as well as eat great food and meet new people. For more information, click here.
Here’s what you’ll find at area farmers’ markets: Everything!! Basil, beets, bok choy, broccoli, broccoli rabe, cabbage, carrots, celery, chives, cilantro, sweet corn, dill, eggplant, fresh garlic, green beans, fresh onions, green peppers, cut herbs, kale, leeks, lettuce, mint, mushrooms, napa cabbage, new potatoes, oregano, parsley, peaches, potatoes, radishes, rosemary, sage, snap peas, Swiss chard, summer squash, tatsoi, thyme, tomatoes, zucchini and MORE.
