No, I’m not referring to the famous book by Ray Bradbury. I’m talking about local dandelions, carefully harvested and turned into a sweet dessert wine. I’ve heard about it over the years but had no idea how it would taste. Now Wycombe Vineyards has this year’s harvest of Dandelion Wine available – while it lasts! The 350 ml bottles feature a photo of the Rich and Deb Fraser’s granddaughter picking a dandelion flower. The wine is balanced and delicious!

From the vineyards’ website, here’s a little background:

From an old family recipe found in our grandfather’s cellar, this wine is made from dandelions we handpick from the property each spring. The wine is sweet with pear and honey notes up front and perfect for dessert. Pair with cheesecake, vanilla ice cream or a bit of blue cheese on a hearty grain bread.

Wycombe Vineyards is on Forest Grove Road, between the villages of Forest Grove and Wycombe, in Buckingham Township. They are open Fridays and Saturdays from 11 am to 6 pm, and on Sundays from noon to 5 pm. For directions see their website.
