Friend of a Farmer Dinner series kicks off with a benefit

Caleb's Salad

Caleb’s American Kitchen has announced the return of last season’s popular Friend of a Farmer dinner series, held twice monthly on Thursday and Friday nights. Dinners in the Friend of the Farmer series are four course, prix-fixe, and are made using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients with menus posted online a few weeks prior to the dinner. Caleb’s usually has many options for vegetarians, and will accommodate vegan as well, if called in advance.

The season begins on Wednesday, May 20 with a dinner to benefit the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance.

The Bucks County Foodshed Alliance (BCFA) is a non-profit founded in 2006 by a grassroots group who saw a need to make the bounty of Bucks County farms more accessible to families while providing farmers a market to sell their products. BCFA’s two key objectives are to strengthen the local farming economy and improve availability of local, healthy, sustainably grown food for all members of our community.

“The BCFA is thrilled to be partnering with Caleb’s American Kitchen. Their Friend of a Farmer dinners are completely in sync with our mission to support our county’s growers by encouraging more people to buy and enjoy local,” added Cathy Snyder, BCFA Board Member/Founder and Director Rolling Harvest Food Rescue.

Tickets for the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance Friend of the Farmer Dinner Benefit are $60 and include a four course meal prepared with local and seasonal ingredients including asparagus from None Such Farm and micro-greens from Blue Moon Acres, accompanied by wine from a private donor, private label hard cider from Snipes Farm, beer samples from Triumph Brewery, and of course, good company.

Reservations as required. Call Caleb’s at 215.794.8588 to reserve your seat!

Owners Caleb Lentchner and Carol Ann Della Penna appreciate the abundance of local farms within Bucks County, Hunterdon and Mercer Counties and are proud to offer the finest in seasonal produce and livestock from these farms.

“Caleb’s American Kitchen already uses several local products on our menus. Friend of a Farmer allows us to celebrate and continue our support to the many exceptional local farms and businesses. It’s been a long winter season, so we’re hoping Mother Nature will be cranking out some good stuff come May,” said Lentchner.

Caleb’s American Kitchen is located at 5738 Route 202, Lahaska, PA 18931.
