Bucks Food Calendar: September 9, 2011

Let’s just skip talking about the weather, eh?

Moving right along, September is bursting with food activity. Farm to table dinners, wine (and polo), church suppers, firehouse breakfasts and harvest festivals. Here’s a few highlights for the next couple of weeks.

Farm-to-Table Dinners. Check out the calendar for the 2nd annual farm-to-table dinner hosted by None Such Farms in Buckingham. Max Hansen Caterers will be preparing the food again at this fundraiser which takes place outside at the farm. Look also for the Chef Series of dinners created by the Kitchen Potager in Ottsville. This Sunday’s dinner is with Chef Drew Abbate of the Vine and Fig Tree Bistro in Doylestown. See our previous post for a listing of all the chef dinners taking place this month.

Speaking of farm-to-table dinners, here’s a “save the date.” The Bucks County Foodshed Alliance will be holding its first farm-to-table fundraiser on Sunday, October 23 at Earl’s Bucks County in Lahaska. Under the direction of general manager, David Zuckerman, Earl’s has established a reputation for fine dining using many local Bucks County farms for product. Come spend an evening and enjoy a four-course delicious seasonal meal with wine. For more information, contact the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance at this email: admin@BucksCountyFoodshedAlliance.org

The 6th Annual Wine + Polo event (also a fundraiser, benefiting the Bucks SPCA this year) has just been rescheduled from this Saturday, September 10 to Saturday, September 24, due to flooding along River Road. In fact, if you plan on going anywhere near the river this weekend, please call ahead. Many roads have been closed.

Also rescheduled due to wet weather is the last of a series of summer farm tours presented by the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance. This tour of Snipes Farm in Morrisville was supposed to happen on September 7 and has been rescheduled for Wednesday, September 14. A potluck begins at 6:30 pm and the tour begins at 7:30 pm. For more information, see the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance’s website.

On a sad note, I just received a “goodbye” email from the Cafe at Rosemont. Apparently they are closing. This landmark, cozy restaurant in Rosemont, New Jersey has warmed many a heart with its delicious breakfasts and special dinners. Wishing you the best and so sorry to see you go.

  1. Hi Lynne,
I just saw the article about The Cafe at Rosemont and saw that you used an image of one of my paintings of the interior. I am fine with people using my images, but I do require that people provide a link to my website when doing so. I was a huge fan of The Cafe and did a series of 8 paintings of the interior. I titled the series “Our Spot” because everyone who was a regular had a special spot that they would like to sit each time they came. It is truly a place that never can be replaced. I would love to share my art with the many patrons of The Cafe, and give them an opportunity to have an image that can preserve the memory of their spot at The Cafe forever. I also am doing a series on The Black Bass Hotel if you ever do an article on them. I will be continuing to paint interiors of these beautiful, landmark places. Please check out my website, and if there are any images that you would like to use, I would gladly give you permission if you just include my website info. Can you please put the image in your publication again (to relate it to the article) and provide your readers with a link to my website: jeanchildsbuzgo.com
Please email me and let me know when to expect the addition in your upcoming publication so I can keep an eye out for it.
Thank you very much for this opportunity,
    Jean Childs Buzgo
