Also, Wednesday is the deadline for Bucks County Taste’s Dinner Club: Experience Peru at Quinoa. Quinoa has become one of our favorite’s in Bucks County, and Peruvian food is both exciting and diverse. Jack Egoavil will give us a Peruvian cocktail demonstration and tasting using Peru’s national spirit, Pisco. During the 3-course dinner (see menu here) he’ll share tidbits about Peruvian cuisine and what makes it so unique. You can also learn how to make ceviche, Peru’s national dish by signing up for a half-hour cooking class before the dinner (beginning at 5:30 pm) for an additional $10. Class is limited to 20 participants so sign up when you register. All this for $70 per person, tax and gratuity included, and it’s BYOB as well. Go here to register.
Seafood, Honey Restaurant
On Thursday, September 24 from 5 – 9 pm, come down to Honey Restaurant in Doylestown for a nine-course shared tasting Seafood Adventure dinner. It’s selling out fast, so reserve your spot now! Here’s just a taste of the lineup for dinner: Pocono trout tartare with chilled corn soup, smoked trout roe, corn shoots and spicy popcorn; oyster po’boy, heirloom tomato relish, saffron-chile mayo and arugula; Skuna Bay salmon crude; Thai lobster soup; Pacu ribs; Unagi “fried rice”; and more. (See the full menu here.) Cost is $150 per couple. The menu is subject to change. Call for reservations at 215.489.4200.

Friend of a Farmer Dinner, Caleb's American Kitchen

Seafood not your thing? No worries. Caleb’s American Kitchen in New Hope, PA another of their monthly Friend of a Farmer dinners this week. It’s a twice-monthly four-course dinner, happening again this September 24 & 25 from 5 – 11 pm. While Caleb’s already uses local products on their menu, Friend of a Farmer really dives in and shows off the exceptional local farms and businesses. The prix-fixe dinners are $45 per person on Thursday and $50 per person on Friday nights (tax and gratuity not included).

Reservations are required. In keeping with Caleb’s American Kitchen’s culture, all courses are easily modified to accommodate the vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dieter.

Want to see just how good Caleb’s American Kitchen is? Guest blogger Sue Gordon tells all: Caleb’s American Kitchen is good for vegetarians too

Temperance House

Welcome back! Newtown’s historic Temperance House has reopened and is celebrating with a Grand Opening Party this Thursday, September 24 from 6 – 8 pm. The new menu features “progressive international cuisine” created by Executive Chef Arturo Bermudez (to see menus, click here). The bar features craft beers and cocktails, and they have even renovated the eleven guest rooms. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner daily along with Sunday brunch. How exciting to see the Temp alive again! The Temperance House is at 5 South State Street in Newtown Borough.
