Bucks Food Calendar: May 7, 2014

meatballs-ricotta-tomatoWhat’s on tap this week in Bucks County? Meatballs, clams, fresh spring produce, wine concerts, cooking classes and Mother’s Day (and a lot more).

Proud of your meatballs? Then bring them to Casa Casale in Peddler’s Village this Saturday, May 10 and enter the 2nd Annual Meatball Festa Contest. Each entry must consist of six Italian style meatballs and homemade sauce or gravy. The deadline for entry is May 10, 2014. The $30.00 entry fee goes to the Susan G. Komen – Breast Cancer Awareness of Philadelphia. Raise an additional $30 and Casa Casale will treat YOU to an Authentic Italian Spaghetti and Meatball Dinner. For more information, see their Facebook page.

Happy 150th birthday to the Continental Tavern! On Friday, May 9, this landmark restaurant and tavern will celebrate it’s 150th anniversary as a licensed tavern in Bucks County. Join in two days of festivities. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for more details.

Miss Maxwell's Clam BarSeafood lover’s delight! Miss Maxwell’s Clam Bar begins this Wednesday, May 14 at Hamilton’s Grill Room. The weekly clam bar will feature a great assortment of fresh shellfish and seafood, all for $27.99 per person. Shrimps, clams, oysters, mussels, lobster and a sparkling beverage, all served by Miss Maxwell. For reservations, call 609.397.4343 or use Open Table.

Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 11. Forgive me for not doing a post on where you can go out for a great meal with Mom, but if you want some ideas, see 2014 – Going out for Easter. Most of these restaurants do a Mother’s Day brunch also.
