BCA Summer 2016

Happy Memorial Day, Bucks County! While you are busy eating potato salad, and burgers straight from the grill, don’t forget to take time to thank the men and women who have served our country. After all, their help is what allows us to celebrate with fireworks, BBQ, and all the other fun summer activities we enjoy so much. So raise a glass and be sure to check out what other foodie events are happening this week in Bucks County.

The 2016 Summer Farm Tours begin!

BCA Summer 2016

The Bucks County Foodshed Alliance, the Bucks County Buy Fresh Buy Local chapter, and the Doylestown Food Market are launching a 2016 series of farm events that introduce customers to local products, farms, farm markets, and more.

The first tour in the series starts this Wednesday, June 1, with a visit to Durham Glen Farm in Pipersville.

The farm uses sustainable farming practices and offers pastured lamb and duck raised in humane conditions as well as brown eggs from pastured hens. Heritage fruits and vegetables are also available seasonally. The farmers produce local raw honey and this fall will offer “woodlot pork” from their Gloucester Old Spots, a heritage English breed.

The delicious potluck begins at 6 – 7 pm, with the tour to follow. Visitors are asked to bring a dish to share with others, and bring their own eating equipment, beverages and seating. Be expected to carry out your own trash.

Save the dates! The next summer farm tour will be at Rolling Hills Farm outside of Lambertville, NJ on Thursday, July 7. In August, come to Manoff Market Gardens in Solebury for a potluck and tour on Wednesday, August 3.
