Delaware River Town restaurant week

snow bound leafy greensHappy first day of spring! Well, it doesn’t really feel like spring but at least sundown is coming later. Emotional difference!

While the flowers may be still trying to poke up through the melting snow, you can jump start the new season with fresh, local food from the Delaware River Towns to get you into the spring-y spirit. And hey, maybe it will be nice enough to sit outside. Here’s hoping!

Sustainable farm film seriesFarm film series. The Pennypack Farm and Education Center is hosting three nights of movies at the Ambler Theatre, followed by discussions led by a panel of experts. Each movie looks at different aspects of sustainability, so you can learn how to make changes in your own community. This week’s film is Sustainable, which looks at the future of our food system. The movie begins at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, March 21.

4th Bucks Bacon and Beer Highlights

Did you miss out on this year’s bacon and beer event at Triumph Brewing Co.? Sorry you couldn’t come, but we have some highlights to share with you! There were 14 local food purveyors in attendance, bacon goodies were given out as raffle prizes, and everybody left with the sweet taste of salty bacon and full-bodied beers on their lips.

Our Bucks County Taste editorial assistant was on the prowl, talking to guests about their favorite bacon goodies. Everything was delectable but we will say foodies loved the crispy bacon from Haring Brothers in Doylestown, ghost pepper sausage from Gerome’s Sausage in Levittown, the aged cheeses from Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse and the chocolate bacon bark from Pierre’s Chocolates.

Keep in mind, we have a few awesome dinner club events coming up, so no worries if you missed out on this one.

Join us on March 26 for an exquisitely prepared, seasonal and locally sourced dinner.

Comfortfood & Kitchenette is a cozy, farm-to-table BYOB restaurant, tucked away on a back street, in an innocuous block of stores in Morrisville, PA. It’s one of Morrisville’s best kept secrets. The locals know about it but I think everyone else needs to know about it too.

Comfortfood specializes in fresh, creative and seasonal cuisine with ingredients sourced from local farms. The menu includes dishes that meat-lovers, vegetarians and vegans can all enjoy.
