Bucks Food Calendar: July 5, 2016

Farming, Rolling Hills Farm

What a weekend! Hopefully this three-day celebration was filled with good people, fireworks, and food. Even though it’s back-to-the-daily-grind for most people, the party doesn’t have to stop. Here’s a few local foodie events happening this week to get you to the next weekend.

Schnitzel Night. Join the United German Hungarians in Bensalem for a Schnitzel Night at the club, every first Wednesday of the month. Dinner is $10 for adults and $5 for children, dessert is available for purchase, and there is a fully stocked cash bar.

The meal includes schnitzel (pork), red cabbage, and spaetzle (dumplings). Reservations aren’t necessary, but if you’re planning on bringing a large group, call Kathi Galgon at 215.542.0868.

Clam Bake, The Logan Inn

Clam Bake Thursdays. In need of some good seafood but don’t want to travel to New England? Every Thursday there is a clambake at the Logan Inn for $30 per person. The price per guest includes a whole lobster, clams, mussels, shrimp, corn, potatoes, and chicken wings. Call the inn at 215.862.2300 for questions. This recurring event continues through August.

Extrovert IPA, Left Hand Brewery Company
Left Hand Brewing Company.
This Thursday, July 7, the Continental Tavern is hosting a kick-off pint night for Left Hand Brewing Company, the beer that will be on tap at the tavern for the month of July. The party will feature beer samplings and prizes from 5 – 7 pm.

The tavern will feature three beers on tap from July 7 through July 14. The beers include:

  • Wicked JuJu: An imperial ale brewed with ginger.
  • Milk Stout Nitro: Hints of brown sugar, vanilla cream, with a bit of roasted coffee.
  • Extrovert IPA: An American IPA with fruit-forward hops, orange blossom and pineapple.

Farming, Rolling Hills Farm Farm tour and potluck. The Bucks County Foodshed Alliance and Bucks Buy Fresh Buy Local host the second event in the 2016 farm tour and potluck at Rolling Hills Farm. The tour is free but donations to the event are welcome, and they go to the BCFA’s funding for programs. Rolling Hills Farm is located in Lambertville, NJ, and they raise vegetables, herbs, flowers, mushrooms, and they are very passionate about sustainability. The potluck runs from 6 – 7 pm, with the tour to follow. Visitors should bring a dish to share with others, their own eating equipment, beverages and seating and they should be expected to carry their own trash.
