The Delaware River towns of New Jersey are just a short trip from Bucks County. Many restaurants are right along the river, which makes for a relaxing dinner date or evening away from home, especially during the summer season. There’s so much happening this week nearby Bucks County, so special we had to mention them. Of course, if you don’t feel like going a few extra miles, there’s still a lot to eat in Bucks.

Milford Oyster House

Big Changes at MOH. The Milford Oyster House in Milford, NJ has been serving delicious seafood since 1985, and the owners have announced some big changes. Chef Eddie and Amy Coss (brother and sister) are moving on to the next chapter in their lives, and they are passing MOH to Tom Kulnis and Rosie Tangtrakul.

Tom has been working for the Oyster House for a few years, and Rosie grew up working in her parents Lambertville restaurant, Siam. The restaurant will close for vacation on Sunday, July 17 which will be Eddie and Amy’s last day of service. The doors will open again at 3 pm on Thursday, July 21 for a huge wine sale (Amy didn’t want to leave behind the large inventory so she is sharing it with us!).

Tom and Rosie will open the doors officially on Friday, August 19 as the Milford House. The menu is creative with new tastes, American comfort food with an international flair. Crab Norfolk and oyster on the half shell program will still be in place at the restaurant. This week: Chef Ed is still cooking in the kitchen, some come and enjoy one last meal before the big change!

Bowman's Tavern
“Mondays Matter.” Each Monday in July, Bowman’s Tavern will be donating 10% of all food sales to Maverick Repka. Their friends at MOM’s, Devil’s Half-Acre and Riegelsville Tavern will also be joining the effort to raise awareness and funds for Baby Maverick.

Also, the tavern currently has rotating beers on tap like Goose Island (an IPA), Curious Traveler Lemon Shandy (seasonal), and Lagunitas Aunt Sally (seasonal on deck). And if you need something quick and cheap, Bowman’s has a happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 – 6 pm in the tavern, where you can enjoy half off draft beer, $6 cocktails, $6 glasses of wine and $6 menu items.

Wine Tasting Dinner. Here’s another wine tasting event for all the true wine enthusiasts out there. The Washington House Restaurant is hosting an evening of wine with 10 wines (yes, 10!) and a five-course dinner on Tuesday, July 12 at 5 pm. Reservations are recommended, and the cost per person is $59. Call 215.257.3000 to save your spot. Can’t make it to the wine dinner? If you just need a drink, The Washington House Restaurant is celebrating National Mojito Day on Monday, July 11. Head over for a tasty, refreshing summer adult beverage!

Brian's Restaurant
Weeknights at Brian’s.
Can’t wait until the weekend to enjoy a nice meal out? We’re with you. Come check out the “new” Brian’s in Lambertville, NJ on a weeknight and enjoy a great three-course prix fixe meal for just $45.
The restaurant was recently renovated, creating more seating and a foyer. Brian’s is BYOB and cash/check only.

The menu changes daily and depend on ingredients available, so you’ll always be in for a surprise. An example of previous dishes include Mediterranean seafood soup with tapenade, braised short ribs, kimchi and scallion hash, or sautéed berries over vanilla ice cream.

Bastille Day. Celebrate Bastille Day – one of the events that sparked the French Revolution – this Thursday, July 14 at the Ryland Inn in Whitehouse, NJ. Bastille Day commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in Paris back in 1789, and it signified the overthrowing of an oppressive monarchy. It’s also the founding of the French Republic. If you are a history buff, this celebration is perfect for you, or anyone who wants to enjoy unlimited wine, mussels, crème brûlée and more. Cost of the festivities is $45 per guest. RSVP by calling 908.534.4011.
