Wine pairing dinner

Fasten your seat belts (or, er, loosen your belts); it’s going to be a busy and delicious week in Bucks County!

Learn something. Carlow Cookery is plunging into the New Year with a new series of classes. Tonight, Wednesday, January 14, learn to sauté, grill, roast (portions and whole chickens), and stir fry chicken at the Chicken Five Ways Class, which begins at 7 pm. Tomorrow night, Thursday, January 15, 7 pm, sample some Italian wines alongside a three course meal and learn about food and wine pairing at their Italian Wines Class. Tuesday, January 20 at 7 pm, add some baking skills to your arsenal with their Bread Basket Class (you’ll learn to make Brioche, a Multi-grain bread, and others).

Lambertville- New Hope Winter festivalWinter Fest. The Lambertville-New Hope Winter Festival begins this weekend and with it brings plenty to eat and drink. The festival is kicked off this Saturday, January 17, with the Annual Fire & Ice Ball, an evening of food from DiSH Catering, a cash bar, and entertainment including the ice sculptor Roger Wing and the Circus Arts Performer Rae Mae. The fun starts at 7 pm; find tickets here.

The Winter Festival continues from 3 to 7 pm on Sunday, January 17, with Blues & BBQ, hosted by the American Legion in Lambertville. They’ll have the NFL playoffs on TV, a full BBQ spread with “all the fixin’s,” and blues music played by the Bob Lanza Blues Band. If your partner-in-crime has to watch football on Sunday, this is the place for you. Buy your tickets here before they sell out!

Missing the warm weather? The third ticketed event of the Winter Festival is Cinco de Mayo at Zoubi’s from 7 to 10 pm on Tuesday, January 20, which includes a Mexican buffet, live music by Greg Cagno, dancing, and a piñata. There’ll be a cash bar and specialty drinks by Tony Arturo. Follow this link to reserve your spot! There are more Winter Festival events scheduled for the following week—be sure to check our calendar for the rest of them.

Brick Farm Market_soupOne-of-a-kind dinners. Somehow, the stars have aligned to make this week a particularly good one for special, one-time dinners hosted by restaurants and the like. Start on Saturday, January 17 at the Brick Farm Market in Hopewell, NJ for their Winter Comfort Food Market Dinner. The meal is five courses, prepared by rotating chefs. Email marketdinners@brickfarmgroup.com for more information.

Also on Saturday, January 17, Villa Milagro Vineyards is hosting a Brazilian Wine Dinner accompanied by Brazilian music (samba, bossa nova, maracatu and mangue) performed by Rio Nights. This year, they’ll be serving five courses of Scottish-inspired dishes accompanied by various Glenfiddich whiskeys. The menu is so intriguing we wrote an entire article on it, which you can read here.

The Slow Food Philadelphia chapter has chosen the Uzbek restaurant in Feasterville, Samarkand, for their monthly internationally-themed dinner on Monday, January 26. This five-course dinner includes lamb dishes, manti (dumplings), and other delicacies inspired by Uzbekistan’s unique cuisine, influenced by Turkish, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavors.
