There’s something about living in an area where everyone really supports the local businesses and the community. Bucks County is home to so many unique shops, restaurants, wineries, chocolatiers, farms, and other places to eat. Good thing there’s always things going on during the week to keep the locals happy and satisfied!

BBQ and Champagne? You’ve probably tried beer and BBQ but what about pairing southern dishes with some sparkling wine? This Wednesday, February 24, the Yardley Inn presents their Bubbles & BBQ Dinner, where you can enjoy champagne, cava and other sparkling wines, paired with five delicious courses. The dinner starts at 7 pm and is $85 per person plus tax and gratuity.

Executive Chef Eben Copple has prepared a great menu. The first course is grilled oysters, lemon oil, pickled heart of palm paired with Hacienda Methode Champenoise Sparkling. The second course will be country ham, blistered peppers, redeye mayo, sweet potato biscuit paired with Casa Del Mar Cava. The third course is New Orleans BBQ shrimp skewer, cheesy grits paired with Bellavista cuvee alma Franciacorta. The fourth course is smoked brisket, tater tots, spicy sauce paired with LeLarge Peugeot brut Tradition Champagne. And lastly the fifth course is apple-cinnamon fritters paired with Bellavista 2008 Vintage brut Rose Franciacorta. To make a reservation, call 215.493.3800.

Jamison Publick House, JPH Facebook

Wine Dinner. This Wednesday, February 24 the Jamison Publick House will host a wine dinner. The restaurant (not to be confused with the Jamison Pour House) is located just over the county line in Montgomery County (even though it isn’t Bucks, this historic hotel turned restaurant is just too good to pass up). The dinner is $80 and starts at 6 pm. Executive chef Stephen Yeager is working on an inspired menu that will pair with wines that “mean something.” The Jamison Family is presently accepting reservations for the limited number of seats available for this dinner. Call 215.375.8886.

7th locavore crop

Eating local and celebrating local businesses is what it’s all about! Come out for the 7th Annual Bucks Locavore event, on Thursday, February 25 from 5 – 8 pm. This event is a great opportunity to taste local food and network. The event began seven years ago when Superior Woodcraft in Doylestown teamed up with the Doylestown Business Community Alliance (DBCA) to raise awareness of local businesses, local farms and local foods. Over 30 local producers will be offering samples of their products, everything from moonshine to pansy marmalade to the best craft brews in the region. This is a free event open to the public. More information is available here.

Here’s just a “taste” of who will be there:

  • Doylestown Brewing Co.
  • Giggling Goat Dairy
  • Laurie’s Chocolates
  • The Market at DelVal
  • Offbeat Gourmet
  • Rose Bank Winery
  • Sole Kombucha
  • Wycombe Vineyard

Not sure what Superior Woodcraft has to do with local food? See last year’s post, 6th Annual Locavore!

Breakfast, The Karlton Cafe, Facebook
Looking to spice up your week? The Karlton Cafe in Quakertown still has their Cajun specials for the rest of February. Head to the cafe for breakfast dishes like Cajun shrimp and jalapeno cheddar grits or cornbread stuffed french toast. Try some shrimp gumbo for lunch or the blackened skirt steak for dinner. Gumbo is available for takeout in three sizes: 12 oz, 16 oz, or a quart. Make your reservation by calling 215.538.8353.
