Here we are at the Bucks County Chocolate Show, sending you our devoted readership, photos and updates on the most favorite convection in the world. Yes, you might still be shaking the sleepy cobwebs from your eyes and sipping your coffee, but we’re here doing the hard work – tasting chocolates and other good stuff.

My first stop is Barbara’s Butter Crunch. Barbara Hitchcock, owner and maker of this delicious hand-made toffee stands proudly behind the table as we hover over four kinds of crunch, trying to decide which one to go for first. How about the Chocolate Toffee made with real dark chocolate and almonds? It has a nice crunch, softer than most butter crunches, which I like. Most toffees are so brittle that you’re afraid you’ll tear the inside of your mouth. The sweet chocolate taste is followed by the perfect touch of saltiness. Lovely. I guess this is why salted caramel has become such a popular flavor of late.

Barbara has been making her toffee for four years, and has been winning First Place Blue Ribbons at the New Jersey State Fair for as long. She’s excited to be doing what she loves, cooking and creating food that pleases. In her “past life,” she was a Home Economics teacher. Now she spends her hours in the kitchen, blending real chocolate with nuts, sugar and everything good.

Barbara is selling packets of her toffee crunch for $13 – $14 (including tax). I’ve got to pick up a couple for Mother’s Day!
