9 things you gotta do in Bucks this weekend (April 20-23)

You know what they say, April showers bring May flowers. Hopefully the forecast changes a bit because this weekend is filled with outdoor spring festivities, food festivals, and other ways to celebrate all that is good in this community.

Start off your Friday evening with Bristol’s Restaurant Week, head over to DelVal for its annual A-Day, and end the weekend with a wine and yoga event. There’s lots more in between!

1. Bristol Borough Restaurant Week

King George Inn

Bristol Borough is celebrating its Second Annual Restaurant Week to showcase some of its popular eateries. The restaurant week runs through Sunday, April 23 and takes place at nine restaurants. Enjoy specials from King George II Inn, Cesare’s Ristorante, Mill Street Cantina, The Pines Tavern, The Borough Pub, Golden Eagle Diner & Restaurant, Annabella Restaurant, Cafe Bombay, and Apollo Pizza Bar & Restaurant.

2. Pinot Noir Dinner

Pinot Noir is known as the “ultimate food pairing wine,” and you get to enjoy it with different dishes at Earl’s New American this weekend. On Friday, April 21, Chef Bill Murphy presents a four-course spring menu, hosted by Mike Conti of Vintage Imports.

The dinner is $75 inclusive. Make the weekend an overnight stay with a wine, bed and breakfast getaway at the Golden Plough Inn. The overnight stay is $135 plus tax in the newly renovated Main Inn, and it includes breakfast at the Buttonwood Grill. Call 215.794.4004 to make wine dinner reservations.

3. DelVal A-Day

A-Day is Delaware Valley University’s big, annual festival, also known as “Activities Day.” If you haven’t heard about this event, it’s a family friendly celebration organized and run by the students of Delaware Valley University to benefit its campus activities and clubs. The three-day event brings together exhibits, competitions, entertainment, fun, and of course food. Everyone raves about the university’s homemade milkshakes, tasty funnel cakes, and other treats.

4. 9th Annual Earth Day and Potluck Lunch

Saturday, April 22, 9 am – 12 pm, Snipes Farm and Education Center, 890 West Bridge St., Morrisville, PA

Earth Day Celebrate Earth Day with local farmers and friends at Snipes Farm. This Saturday, you can help with hands-on projects around the farm to help kick off the 2017 growing season.

Take a farm tour, meet some of the animals, learn about the farm’s mission and more. While you’re there, you’ll be treated to a tasty potluck at noon. Just bring a little something to add to the meal. The event is free and all are welcome.

5. Spring Fling at Peddler’s Village

Saturday, April 22 – Sunday, April 23, 10 am – 6 pm, Peddler’s Village, Routes 202 & 263, Lahaska, PA

Spring is here, so come out and celebrate the season in Bucks County at the Peddler’s Village Spring Fling Festival on Saturday and Sunday, from 10 am – 6 pm. Walk around and taste local seasonal foods, pick up some flowers from their home and garden displays, and hang out with friends in the beer garden. And, shop for spring things at the Artisans Market.

As for the food, you can indulge in the spring specialities from Peddler’s Village food carts, eat at Earl’s New American, or chill at the Buttonwood Grill deck. More information on the event is here.

6. Newtown Historic Association Spring Cocktail Party

The Newtown Historic Association is hosting its spring cocktail party at The Half Moon Inn. The inn will be decorated with pretty spring flowers and a selection of delicious hors d’oeuvres will be offered up for the occasion. The event is $35 per person and held from 5 – 8 pm. Come and bring a friend and enjoy a delightful evening!

7. Firehouse Breakfast

Sunday, April 23, 7:30 am – 12:30 pm, Perkasie Fire Company, 5th and Arch St., Perkasie, PA

Support a local firehouse by heading to the Perkasie Fire Company this Sunday 7:30 am – 12:30 pm. The menu includes eggs, pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, scrapple, home fries, onions and mushrooms. Cost for adults is $7, children ages 4 – 12 years old is $3.50, and children three and under are free. There will be a 50/50 drawing at the breakfast.

8. Vino and Vinyasa

Sunday, April 23, 11 am – 2 pm, Crossing Vineyards & Winery, 1853 Wrightstown Rd., Newtown, PA

Meghan’s Foundation is hosting its first Annual Vino and Vinyasa fundraiser this weekend at Crossing Vineyards and Winery. The day will start with a 45 minute all-levels vinyasa session. After the class, participants will experience a wine tasting featuring eight wines and a plate of assorted cheeses, cured meats, and a chocolate truffle.

In the last hour, enjoy a silent auction with more wine. All tickets are non-refundable and you can purchase them here.

Meghan’s Foundation raises awareness and support for veterans and active-duty military who may be experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) by developing free, trauma-sensitive programs of yoga and meditation for military, veterans, and their spouses or partners.

9. Dinner with Friends

Sunday, April 23, 5:30 pm, Bux-Mont Christian Church, 400 Jacksonville Rd., Ivyland, PA

“Dinner with friends” is offered every fourth Sunday of the month to those in need in the local community. The church offers this hot, hearty meal free of charge. This month’s dinner is baked ziti with meatballs, Caesar salad, garlic bread, cupcakes and ice cream, and assorted drinks. Dinner starts at 5:30 pm.
