7 things you gotta do in Bucks this weekend (January 6-8)

2017 is moving along nicely, and this weekend Bucks County has a few foodie events that will keep you busy. If you are missing all the holiday festivities, treat yourself to a beer tasting or maybe sample something new at a local restaurant for Foodie First Friday. Or, shop around at local healthy shops and stores to make sure you start off the new year with food that’s good, and good for you.

1. Beer Tasting: Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers

Friday, January 6, 5 pm, The Washington House, 136 North Main St., Sellersville, PA

The Washington House is hosting its first beer tasting of the new year this Friday, starting at 5 pm. On this night, you can sip Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers, popular in the brewing scene in the Northeast and nationwide. Tastings range from $10 – $13. See more information on the restaurant’s website.

2. Foodie First Friday

Friday, January 6, Downtown Doylestown, PA

You should add “try something new in 2017” to your resolutions’ list, and eat at a different restaurant or eatery in Doylestown. You can work on expanding your eating horizons this Friday, January 6, since it’s Foodie First Friday, a monthly event that celebrates culture, community and cuisine. Many of the restaurants have specials for the celebration so try a restaurant you’ve never been to, or stop by your usual place and enjoy your favorites. 3. Ziti Dinner

Friday, January 6, 5 – 7 pm, Centenary United Methodist Church, 108 N. Union St., Lambertville, NJ

Pasta galore! There will be a Ziti Dinner from 5 – 7 pm on Friday, January 6 at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Lambertville, NJ. With the ziti, you also get salad, bread, dessert and beverages. The cost of the meal is $12.

4. Soup Day

Saturday, January 7, 11 am – 2 pm, Dublin Fire Co., 194 N. Main Street, Dublin, PA

Head to the Dublin Fire Company this Saturday and warm up with homemade soup. The eat-in menu includes a bowl of vegetable, ham and bean or chicken noodle soup, crackers, beverage, and dessert for $5. Additional sandwiches, hot dogs and other items are available. Soup is also sold by the quart for pickup or take-home.

5. Murder Mystery Dinner: The Golden Girls

Saturday, January 7, 7 – 10 pm, Fisher’s Tudor House, 1858 Street Road, Bensalem, PA

 

The Golden Girls need your help this weekend; there’s a murder that has to be solved. The Fisher’s Tudor House is hosting a murder mystery dinner, The Golden Girls edition, this Saturday, January 7. Enjoy a meal of your choice, including entrees of chicken parmesan, eggplant parmesan, or flounder Julienne. All entrees are served with fresh-baked bread, butter, and a dressed mixed salad.

Don’t forget dessert—strawberry cake, homemade all-butter pound cake with vanilla ice cream, strawberries and whipped cream. The show begins promptly at 7:30 pm, so please arrive by 7 pm. Cost of the dinner and the show is $52.99. Buy your tickets and get more information here.

6. Food & Wine Pairing

Learn the basics of food and wine pairing from one of Crossing Vineyards Winery’s certified wine instructors this Saturday, January 7, starting at 7 pm. Enjoy a multi-course tasting menu and some of Crossing Vineyards’ wines. Reservations are required so call 215.493.6500 ext. 19, or buy online. Cost of the event is $65 per person plus tax, gratuity not included.

7. Firehouse Breakfast

Sunday, January 8, 8 am – 1 pm, Silverdale Fire Co., 111 Main St., Sellersville, PA

Stuff your bellies with some classic breakfast foods this Sunday at the Silverdale Fire Co., with favorites like pancakes, eggs, toast, potatoes, sausage links, pork roll, creamed dried beef, coffee, tea and assorted pastries and juices.
